DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR ENERGY WITH THIS PLACE!!! I was scheduled for a sleep study and they called me 2 days beforehand to tell me no one will be there until 8:25 but they have to setup some things, so I need to be there no earlier than 8:30. So I get dropped off at 8:30. No one is there, it's a really sketchy building that doesn't look medical AT ALL, oh yeah, ITS IN THE MIDDLE OF OF A TORNADO WARNING!!!! I kept calling the facility with no answer. Kept trying the doors but they're locked. I even called earlier that day to confirm my appointment time with the predicted storm but no answer. I am FINALLY able to be picked back up 20 MINUTES AFTER MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME!!!! NO ONE SHOWED UP AND LEFT ME OUTSIDE, ALONE IN THE DARK DURING A TORNADO WARNING!!!! I finally got a call

They do not use real sleep techs. The place is creepy and dark. The staff is absolutely clueless. HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere. I found another local place on the other side of the state line that has self pay rates MUCH more affordable and offer same day testing. Shop around, don't be fooled! I ended up with a ridiculous bill that cost me over $1000.

This was one of the only places that could get in quick enough for an at home and in lab sleep study. I almost rated them lower but often times you have to look at the situation and they were very helpful in making sure things were done in a timely manner. The in lab study was great. Lisa is a GOD on the air/oxygen in helping people get to sleep. I have been having sleep issues over the last couple of months and that night I have never slept better. After the study they say it can take two weeks but it took around a week and and a day to get my results to my doctors. The front desk ladies were awesome and have been very helpful in getting things resolved in a quick manner. Most of us who are having sleep issues are having to run through hoops and back. This place didn't do that. They ke

I have sleep apnea and a CPAP machine. Dr. Tatineny has worked with me over a one-year period to improve my CPAP use to the point where I am now using it regularly and effectively, and it has transformed my sleep and my quality of life for the better. In our appointments, Dr. Tatineny has been knowledgeable, courteous, accessible, and personable. I wholeheartedly recommend her sleep medicine services at the Sleep Disorders Institute.

TL;DR: Dr. Tatineny is an exceptionally compassionate and proactive sleep specialist who truly listens, fights for her patients, and goes above and beyond to find real solutions. Great experience! Very helpful and friendly office staff, an open and communicative doctor, and skilled techs. The sleeping rooms are well supplied, including fans, available water/snacks, and indirect lighting. Update October 2025: I’m updating this review a few years later because I’ve continued to see Dr. Tatineny for three years and wanted to share a more detailed perspective so future patients know what to expect. Dr. Tatineny is one of the most understanding, empathetic, and kind physicians I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. She always makes me feel listened to, prioritized, and genuinely cared for. Whe

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Disorders Institute
What does Sleep Disorders Institute do?
Sleep Disorders Institute is a sleep medicine clinic in Overland Park, KS that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Disorders Institute?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Disorders Institute directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Disorders Institute?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Disorders Institute?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
