I am so incredibly grateful for the care we received at Children’s Health Sleep Disorders Center. As a parent, you never want to hear that something might be wrong with your child especially when it comes to their breathing during sleep. The sleep study was absolutely worth it. Because of their thorough testing and attention to detail, we discovered that my son was not getting the oxygen his brain needed during deep sleep. That knowledge alone changed everything for us. The entire team was kind, patient, and truly caring throughout the whole process. I want to give a special thank you to Naeda, as soon as I received the results, I reached out for a referral, and she made it happen the same day. We were even able to get in the very next day to see Nadine Y. Schwartz, which meant the world

It seems absurd to me that with 4 MDs at the practice, the scheduling center tells me that they are booking out 4 months in advance. There is something deeply operationally wrong with the practice if it takes that much time to get an appointment, and it does not instill confidence that if there was a reschedule or even additional appointments required for follow-up visits that we'd get care in a reasonable amount of time. At that speed, it would take them a year to diagnose. This is not emergency medicine, so it is not like we expect to be seen tomorrow, but 4 months is ridiculous.

My son asked me when we can go back to the sleep center, he enjoyed it that much. Serena was so sweet! She made my son laugh while making sure to explain every detail in preparation for the study. The rooms were clean and we were able to bring our own things for extra comfort.

Just wanted to share what a positive experience we had during a recent sleep study. The nurse, Olivia, was absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process. She made everything so much easier for our little one. Seriously, it was a relief to have someone so caring and attentive. We're so grateful for her help in making it a good experience for our toddler.

We had such a positive experience here for something that can be so different so our little one. Kim was amazing and did everything she could to help our little one and myself, considering he did not want to go to sleep like he would at home. Kim really stood out and made our experience great!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Disorders Center - Plano

What does Sleep Disorders Center - Plano do?

Sleep Disorders Center - Plano is a sleep medicine clinic in Plano, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Disorders Center - Plano?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Disorders Center - Plano directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Disorders Center - Plano?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Disorders Center - Plano?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
