I had a sleep study done 3 weeks ago and might get my results by Friday. The person doing my study was nice, but really told me nothing about when to expect my results. Just a hint about customer service, if you’re back logged give people a shout out that unless something is urgent, it will be a longer turn around and when people call asking about their results, don’t say oh their so busy, tells me I’m not important.

My doctor sent me to Dr. Greatens to determine if I have chronic fatigue disorder. After doing the full sleep study, Dr. Greatens informed me that he doesn’t do anything with chronic fatigue disorder. Dr. Greatens said I was fat and that’s why I’m always tired. He must have overlooked our consultation when I told him that I have had this problem my whole life even when I am thin. He talked more about the Keto diet than my sleep. He’s not a nutritionist. The photo on their website is misleading. Here’s what the room really looks like.

I have to change my review, over time, I am struggling with so many issues and not really finding the proper guidance. I have been going here for probably close to 2 years now and I never get my supplies on time. I have been waiting for my supplies for over a month this time, I called three times, last week I was told they'd be shipped right away on Wednesday, I called Monday when I didn't receive them, no one returned my call, so I called Wednesday and the order was just placed the day before. Now I see it won't arrive until Saturday. I've been needing to replace my tubing for quite some time and the app won't let me order it, I never get the emails to reorder supplies, I'm perpetually stressed out by having to make phone calls for supplies all the time to confirm an order I placed. I can honestly say my experience was 100% different from what all the One star reviews are. I had zero problem with anybody, this includes the person who monitored my sleep habits, the front desk, the staff, who set you up with your supplies, or the doctor. Everybody was very helpful and answered all my questions in a timely manner. The room there does not look exactly what it looks like online but it’s not bad. Resembles a run-of-the-mill hotel room but with a Sleep Number bed. Overall, no complaints about my experience here.

Poor customer service. Takes days to get answers on parts. Rude people there. They keep the doors locked claiming COVID, so they make you sit out in the parking lot and call them and then can’t answer your questions or help you. I think they don’t want to be bothered so they don’t have to do any work. Completely unorganized. They act like they need federal government approval for a nose piece. Done with this place, there’s better places that have real customer service. Can buy all the stuff on Amazon for cheaper anyway.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Center of Central Minnesota

What does Sleep Center of Central Minnesota do?

Sleep Center of Central Minnesota is a sleep medicine clinic in Baxter, MN that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Center of Central Minnesota?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Center of Central Minnesota directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Center of Central Minnesota?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Center of Central Minnesota?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
