Happy. Does take a while to get results, which they explained to me at visit. SUPER THANKFUL for the receptionist who explained things after the confusion. The confusion was because my physician got the results and told them to me before sleep center did. (This was a month after the sleep study). So I thought I had to go through my Dr. I will note that my physican 's student assistant told me to call around for CPAP that my insurance would take. About a week later, I did all that, called my Dr with the info. They said the sleep center would call me. The following day the sleep center did call me and asked if I wanted to set up apt for results. I told them my Dr already told me the results and that I called around to find CPAP provider that would take my insurance. They told me t

I had a very frustrating experience with this place. The staff was rude both over the phone and in person. Only the person who explained to me the procedure was kind. When I initially called to confirm the address few days before, they gave me the wrong information, and left it on a voicemail. When I called back to clarify, they responded with attitude and didn’t even apologize for the mistake. When I arrived, the front desk staff didn’t greet me at all they simply asked for my name with an unfriendly tone and gave me unpleasant looks the entire time. On top of that, they failed to properly check the device before I left. The equipment turned out to be defective, and I couldn’t even complete what I went there for. Overall, it was a complete waste of time and very unprofessional service.

(apologizing in advance for the length) i hate to give a one star because the staff who actually set me up with the at-home and in-house sleep studies were great, but the way the "doctor" handles things is crazy. erica brousseau. not sure what her actual medical title is, but she's the one who saw me for my follow-ups. the first meeting with her was to discuss my results. turns out i have both obstructive and central, and my AHI was 73. so i was honestly pretty freaked out when i heard that i was almost at 2.5x the threshold of "severe" (anything over 30). any question i asked, she gave short, monotone, borderline a-hole remarks. nothing actually helpful or encouraging. she made me feel like this was all somehow my own fault. anyway, from my first call to them to the time i actually got

I don't usually like to leave bad reviews but this place deserves it. The staff is rude and borderline incompetent. They misdialed my phone number and blamed me for missing an appointment. When asking questions, I'm met with eye rolls. I visited once to get my sleep monitoring device and received two very expensive bills, but I don't know what they were for. There were no descriptions of the charges, and when I tried to call both the billing department and front desk, no one answered and no one returned my calls. The amount of time I had to wait for a follow up appointment is ridiculous. I had my sleep test in May, but my follow up wasn't until October. Then, I received a letter in the mail the week of my appointment saying they had to cancel it. No phone calls to reschedule, no explanat

Melissa is the kindest, most helpful medical professional that I have ever interacted with. She made my entire stay very pleasant, and helped me feel a lot less stressed than I feared I would. Thank you again!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Roger Williams Sleep Disorders Center

What does Roger Williams Sleep Disorders Center do?

Roger Williams Sleep Disorders Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Johnston, RI that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Roger Williams Sleep Disorders Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Roger Williams Sleep Disorders Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Roger Williams Sleep Disorders Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Roger Williams Sleep Disorders Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
