I was referred by my primary care. They send a contract that says they will charge a $2,500 fee if the device is lost or damaged (it is a small cheap piece of plastic) and then $25 dollars a day (yes this is per day) if not returned on time. Looks like others, from services across their company, have been charged and/or now have a collection fight. I now know why they took a credit card number to start. The device also has poor user reviews as unreliable (waste of time). I now have to drive up to Lincoln to make sure this is returned in hand, unused and not erroneously charged with who knows what. You would think they would tell you this before they mail this junk to you. You also cannot get a hold of anyone direct by phone at the office.

Walked in office. Very uninviting. No doctors in sight. Just a woman who hands out over night sleep test device. I wanted to know how bad my osa is and if inspire or airlift would work for me. It been a month. I never got called back with results or given the option to meet with actual specalist... I'd think I should have looked for an ear nose throat Dr. Who also practices sleep disorders for real results.

Been trying to get a hold of the billing department for 3 days some one keeps saying they’ll call me back tomorrow and never does. When I first got the sleep study I had a question called the support line left a message no one got back to me. I personally did not have a good experience with this company and do not recommend them.

Very disappointed in the communication and the entire process. I’ve had to call three times to get information about where I pickup the device, how to access it, where and how to return it. They are very concerned about completing antiquated online forms to protect their liability and ensure they get paid. The first person I spoke to insisted an address would be available in the forms I signed—it wasn’t. Apparently I didn’t get all of the forms the first time. The next person I spoke to didn’t know why I want receiving a text message that they sent. The first and third person I spoke to were based in a call center in the Philippines—I just needed more information about how to return the device to the RI location—apparently a locker outside a building but they didn’t know the locker number

This is one of the worst establishments for sleep studies. Every staff person has a different reason for why they didn’t get a referral. Then they proceed to schedule a sleep study and then tell you that it was a mistake. Not a single staff member knows what they are doing. I would suggest hiring new workers and training them properly.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Epoch Sleep Centers

What does Epoch Sleep Centers do?

Epoch Sleep Centers is a sleep medicine clinic in Lincoln, RI that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Epoch Sleep Centers?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Epoch Sleep Centers directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Epoch Sleep Centers?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Epoch Sleep Centers?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
