I was referred to this clinic by my primary doctor and I must say this was an amazing experience. I had my appointment on June 3rd. I got there and I was called within 10 minutes to filled out paperwork. Then, I was called to speak to a doctor. It was pretty quick. Dr. Sandu was great. She asked me questions related to my sleep. I was scheduled to go on July 12th. For my surprise I got a call from the clinic at 2:46pm and I was told that someone had cancelled so they told me I could go in to do my test I agree and when I got there with my husband check in was quick. I got to my room where Abby was kind, professional and very nice. She answered all my questions explained all the procedure. The room was clean, bed and pillows very comfortable with AC and TV. I really recommend this clinic. E

I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment and was checked into a room around 2:09 PM. After that, I waited over an hour without seeing a doctor or nurse. I eventually had to walk out and ask what was going on, and I was simply told they were busy and still had another patient ahead of me. The lack of communication, time management, and consideration for patients was extremely disappointing. Overall, a very frustrating experience.

I do not recommend this office. there is zero customer service which is scary when a lot of people come here for significant medical services. All of the other poor reviews mirror my experience. I scheduled my initial appointment in August/early September 2025. On November 26, 2025, I was seen by Dr. Sandhu and was scheduled for a sleep study on January 31, 2026. On Friday, January 30, I realized that no one from the practice had contacted me with any information or instructions regarding the sleep study. I left a message for Marguerite, as directed by the automated phone system. On Saturday, January 31, feeling increasingly stressed and anxious, I left two additional messages throughout the day. I have three small children, and planning to spend the night away from them requires signifi

Plan an extra hr around your appt. We have never been seen on time -common in Dr offices- but this office doesn't even check you in until +20mins after scheduled appt… this doesn't include the +30min wait times in the back. EVEN WORSE - I have NEVER received a callback. Not for questions, appt confirmations, referral f/ups, or anything else needed, despite them promising a 48hr time period. Unfortunately Bakersfield is limited in availability and we cannot successfully find a new place….currently writing this from the lobby @2:13p still waiting to be called( appt was for 1:30p!!!) Edited to add - @2:36 and STILL waiting to be seen.

Impossible to get Office Manager to do her job.She will NOT ever call back patients with resolutions or updates. Consequently, Dr has no idea of patients needs or issues. Thousands of $$ spent on Inspire apnea device for no positive results thus far. Very poor experience with device, Dr. and staff

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Prime Pulmonary & Sleep Center

What does Prime Pulmonary & Sleep Center do?

Prime Pulmonary & Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Bakersfield, CA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Prime Pulmonary & Sleep Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Prime Pulmonary & Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Prime Pulmonary & Sleep Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Prime Pulmonary & Sleep Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
