I am extremely disappointed with how Piedmont Newnan Sleep Center handled my referral. I received a sleep study referral on July 6 and called the Sleep Center on July 7 to confirm they received it and explain this was urgent because major abdominal reconstruction surgery was being delayed. I called again on July 21 and was told the request had been submitted and was waiting on Blue Cross Blue Shield authorization. I called BCBS, only to learn they had no record of any request. After BCBS contacted the Sleep Center directly, it was discovered the referral for authorization had never been submitted. Because of this delay, my July 29 surgery was cancelled and cannot be rescheduled until after the Sleep Study and 2 weeks of CPAP use is complete. I spoke with two people at the Center and st

I had a wonderful experience! My sleep techs were Shiane & Glenn and they were very kind and professional. They answered all my questions without hesitation. They explain how the test were gonna go and made the experience comfortable and flawless! The room and beds were comfortable and the whole facility was very clean! I definitely recommend this center for your sleep study!

The staff has always been great in the past. Now I cannot get a return call regarding a doctor ordered study appointment. I originally called the Piedmont appointment number given by Piedmont (told I would receive a call back, that was 4 weeks ago). I subsequently called the sleep center and left 3 detailed messages over the last 3 weeks with no return calls. My doctor wanted the study conducted by Jan 9 (4 days ago).

Absolute scam of a place. DO NOT GO HERE! They quoted me at just under $1000 for the sleep study, with my portion of responsibility to be about $250 after insurance coverage. When I finally saw the bill, they charged nearly $3000 and said my portion of the bill I was responsible for was over $1600. Then they sent all the bills to an old address on file with Piedmont, despite me filling out all the paperwork at the sleep study center with my current address. So I never received the bills, and they sent me to collections. They refuse to explain why my bill ballooned from $1000 to $3000, and they refuse to pull the account from collections. All this for a one night take home sleep study where all they do is review maybe 7 hours of data. This place is a scam and I would recommend that no one

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Piedmont Newnan Sleep Disorders Center
What does Piedmont Newnan Sleep Disorders Center do?
Piedmont Newnan Sleep Disorders Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Sharpsburg, GA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Piedmont Newnan Sleep Disorders Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Piedmont Newnan Sleep Disorders Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Piedmont Newnan Sleep Disorders Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Piedmont Newnan Sleep Disorders Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
