DO NOT use this clinic unless you want to overpay. After having a sleep apnea test done I was billed for $168.00 (after insurance discount) BUT they would not release the results of my test unless I returned for a follow-up appointment. I assumed the follow-up appointment would be no charge and was advised that I would have to pay again for an office visit. I told them that I would like my test results and then would decide if I wanted to continue with them and they refused. Now they bill me monthly for $168.00 but will NOT give me my results. I will NEVER return to this clinic and I will not pay them until my test results are released to me. Please be careful with these people, they do not play fair.

Got my bill from my appointment for my CPAP compliance but never got a call regarding my supplies. Every time we call we get voicemail. It’s been over a month and still haven’t heard anything. If you’re looking for good customer service. This is NOT the place.

I have been going here for over 7 years. The level of care has declined drastically. The sad part of that is Dr Keller probably isn't even aware of his staff issues. I tried for 3 months going round and round with the staff here, Ins & specialty pharmacy about a medication I was on. I ran out of the samples and was having issues with the approval of the medication. I was given so many different reasons why from all three. Even though this medication worked very well for my needs I finally gave up. I was even contacted by email in the app by what I think may have been the office manager. She was inquiring about my situation. I let her know it was never resolved but I never heard back from her. Dr Keller is a great Dr but I think he may have too large of a patient to Dr ratio coupled with

I am a current patient here for the last three years. My initial apt with Dr. Keller and Staff were great. For the year I can not get a call back just to order Sleep Apnea supplies. Now I am forced to find somewhere else and start the process over. Can not get a hold of any staff no matter what day/time I call, and have not received a return call from five messages. Ridiculous

The office is clean and very welcoming. The staff is courteous, friendly and extremely efficient. The nurses are very friendly and addressed all my concerns and updated my chart with all the new drugs and information that I provided them. Dr Kellar is very outgoing friendly and checked me out completely. He updated me and made sure All my questions were answered. I would highly recommend this office to anyone with any pulmonary issues. The sleep clinic is clean and again very well staffed and efficient.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine

What does Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine do?

Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine is a sleep medicine clinic in Algonquin, IL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Northwest Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
