Worst company I have ever dealt with. I told them 6 weeks ago that my surgery has been postponed until my sleep study has been completed and I would like to expedite it. The only communication I have had with them since then has been when I called for updates. They said they were waiting for info that I had already submitted at first. When I told them it was submitted already the suddenly "found" it. Then I was told 7-10 days to get approval from my insurance. That was 22 days ago and still no communication from them. I fired them yesterday. I highly recommend that you use this company only if you have time to call them daily to make sure they are doing their job.

Did a home sleep study early January, turned in the equipment the next morning, was told everything looks good. Never heard back after that. Called 4 times, never heard back. Called my doctor's office - finally 6 weeks after the sleep study, Merit called and said there is no information on the machine, you will have to do it again. Really?!?! OK - Did the sleep study again 8 days ago, turned in the machine to someone who said her boss would call in a couple hours. Boss never called, nobody ever called. So I called, left a message, nobody called back. Called again today. still waiting and hoping someone will call back.

My doctor referred me to this center. I’ve left 12+ messages with the business and nobody returns any calls. I was lucky to finally get through and talk to a person who tried to put me on hold but hung up on me. Most of the time when you call you are automatically put on hold for several minutes then there’s an automated message to leave you contact information and someone will call you back but there’s no response to the messages left. I can’t decide if the people at this office are unprofessional or just incompetent. Regardless I’ve requested my referral be moved to another location that may actually want to help their patients.

I see all these bad reviews that they don’t call back. I did the sleep study there about 5 years ago. They got me in rather quickly, the room was like a hotel room. The technician was kind and efficient. She explained what she was doing while hooking me up to all the wires. I got answers right away. I did have sleep apnea and was directed to go to their Lombard office to pick up my CPAP machine. I wished I would have known about sleep studies years ago. I think they saved my life and definitely saved my brain from all the sleepless nights and sleeping pills I was taking. I sleep much better now. I actually kicked the CPAP machine to the curb and use a mouth guard. The mouth guard is call Pure Sleep and you can fit it yourself at home. You can order it on line for about $40. But go get the

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Merit Center for Sleep Health of Prairie Stone
What does Merit Center for Sleep Health of Prairie Stone do?
Merit Center for Sleep Health of Prairie Stone is a sleep medicine clinic in Hoffman Estates, IL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Merit Center for Sleep Health of Prairie Stone?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Merit Center for Sleep Health of Prairie Stone directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Merit Center for Sleep Health of Prairie Stone?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Merit Center for Sleep Health of Prairie Stone?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
