I can’t recommend this for a sleep study. The doctor I had seen on my first visit was great. He spent time speaking to me and going over my case. He told me that a home sleep study would be all that was required, and that an in-patient study wouldn’t be necessary. I did the home study, then had a follow up video call with the nurse, who showed me a variety of C-Pap machines before saying that, actually, I’d have to do an in-patient overnight sleep study before I could get a machine, even though the home study clearly gave a diagnosis. I explained that I wouldn’t be able to do the additional study for several months. A few months later, I called to make an appointment and was informed that there was a wait of several months, and then a few more months to schedule a follow up visit to get t

4/2026 Finally got in. Scheduled an in office sleep study 2 months out. Then received a call to come in the next night for study. They rescheduled the follow up appointment too to a sooner mid June. Received a phone call today to reschedule as doc will be out. They rescheduled the appointment to a late August. This is for a person who literally destroys the whole bedroom during sleep and is a hazard to themselves. These people don’t care.

It's been a nightmare, it took me months just to get somebody to call me back so when they finally call me back they gave me an appointment date so we hung up the phone, I put in all my information for my ride because I ride through my insurance to doctors it wasn't 10 minutes later that lady calls me back from the front desk and said that she messed up had it all wrong that I cannot see her on this date, that we will have to reschedule but we can't reschedule right now I will call you back. I have called them multiple times and left a messages for a new appointment, they have yet to respond. I have called them 10 times and left messages in the past 2 months. That right there goes to show nobody needs to go there. They are completely worthless and obviously don't care about someone's needs

I had a great experience from beginning to end here. I found the entire staff that I dealt with to be highly organized and professional. My appointment was on time and I did not have to wait very long. I saw Dr. Graham for a second opinion on a previous sleep study I had done elsewhere and the medications I was taking for insomnia. He was very thorough going over the results and explained to me how my meds were working in a way I could understand. (laymen's terms). I was very impressed with his demeanor. He was very patient with me and answered all my questions as a doctor should and did not hurry me out the door. I don't understand all these negative reviews, but then again, they weren't me. My experience was a 10!

I have never left a negative review in my life, but this experience has been an absolute nightmare and I wish someone had warned me. DO NOT SEEK CARE HERE. Go to Charlotte or Knoxville if you have to. I was referred here in April. Got an appointment in June. They did not have the at home study available until September. Waited, did it. Waited a month to have my results interpreted. They came back inconclusive so we scheduled an in-house. Originally, there wasn’t an opening until January but I got on the waitlist and was able to do one within a few weeks. Waited another month for the interpretation. All for them to tell me that despite having almost 20 arousals an hour, movement during REM sleep and my O2 sat dropping to less than 88 for over a minute (I’m a very fit 25 yo female), there w

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Mission Hospital Sleep Center
What does Mission Hospital Sleep Center do?
Mission Hospital Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Asheville, NC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Mission Hospital Sleep Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Mission Hospital Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Mission Hospital Sleep Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Mission Hospital Sleep Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
