Don’t waste your time. The providers here are fine but impossible to get ahold of. The clinic itself can’t even be bothered to have their correct phone number or address available online, so you’ll get transferred to the wrong office again and again, only to leave messages and never hear back. Today I messaged with the team at 9:30am about needing to sign paperwork, told them I’d be by this afternoon only to find that they’re closed. Would’ve been nice to know before wasting my lunch break. This isn’t the first time. Extremely frustrated and fed up with this clinic as a whole. Wish I would’ve gone somewhere else before wasting time and money here.

My PA sent a referral for a sleep study. After 2 days, I decided to call and see when I could get it scheduled. They did have the referral but said I needed to have a consultation before scheduling the sleep study. The first available appointment for the consultation was three and a half months out because they are shorthanded. That's outrageous! I explained that United Healthcare required a current sleep study before they would approve prior authorization to treat my sleep apnea. The woman said they would put me on a cancellation list. Frustrated, I called Pardee Sleep Clinic in Hendersonville. They put me in touch with Carolina Lung & Sleep, and they were able to fit me in in 2 days. They also sent a referral to Pardee Sleep Center before even seeing me for the consultation. So, don't bo

The. Best. Team. You will not find another physician or team that cares about their patients like Dr. Kragel and her staff does. They go above and beyond in the diagnosis and treatment of many different sleep conditions. They ensure to follow through with their patients and make sure things don't slip through the cracks. They also try to get their patients on the schedule ASAP as they understand the severity of conditions and empathize with patients' lifestyles. Cannot emphasize enough the intelligence, compassion, experience, and attentiveness of Dr. Kragel and her team!!!!!!

I've had my sleep apnea treated professionally for 17 years at a difference sleep center in Asheville. My first experience with ASC was like night and day. The entire staff is thoughtful, conscientious and clearly cares about the patient. The scheduling for an initial visit with an actual doctor (DR Kragel) and subsequent sleep study happened quickly. The results were even quicker. Two days after I got my new machine Roger was already monitoring my sleep and following up. Simply amazing. Not to mention my apneas went away and my hypopneas are going down below where my apneas were before I came here. Cannot recommend them enough.

My doctor sent the required documents several months ago. Called several times and the lady stated she would call me back. Called twice since with no response. This place is a joke.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about AdventHealth Sleep Center Parkway

What does AdventHealth Sleep Center Parkway do?

AdventHealth Sleep Center Parkway is a sleep medicine clinic in Asheville, NC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at AdventHealth Sleep Center Parkway?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact AdventHealth Sleep Center Parkway directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at AdventHealth Sleep Center Parkway?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at AdventHealth Sleep Center Parkway?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
