We had such a great experience at MGH! Mary, my son's nurse in surgery, as well as all of the other staff we dealt with, were fantastic and the facility is so nice.

Waited over an hour In the ER never saw the Doctor was asked to lay down on a bed with dirty sheets changed them myself and after the one I saw the nurse for 2 minutes the nurse took me from waiting room into the back the nurse ever returned to check on me within that hour. Waste of time coming here. You will be better off going anywhere else.

The ONLY bright spot is the awesome RNs and LPNs. The ER is awful. My daughter went to the after hours clinic with a stomach virus, unable to hold down food or liquids and I was instructed to take her to the hospital if she continued with her inability to hold down liquid. This was that morning. By 5pm, she was still throwing up every bit of liquid she drank and was getting dehydrated. We went to the ER as instructed. The ER physician, Joshua Alderman, gave us sprite and Zofran - the same medicine and drink she had been unable to tolerate. I told him this. He said they weren't worried about what she had done earlier but that she seemed to tolerate it well now. They sent us home. She puked on herself before we got into the parking lot. She threw up all over herself right outside the sliding

Just got back home from an unexpected trip to MGH's emergency afterhours clinic. Going to the ER is never fun, and I have to express my sincere thanks to the professional and efficient team at MGH. We were processed in very quickly, and our care team (Dr. Gillespie and NP Amanda May) were kind, caring, efficient, and effective. Took care of my problem very well. My wonderful wife, who has medical concerns of her own, was with me, and they even took time to make her more comfortable. Top notch team. Kudos to all!

I had a wonderful experience at MGH. Pam Wallace made sure I received the care I needed. She gave detailed instructions as well as, facilitated my care. I was met by the ER provider, Meredith, who made sure I received a thorough assessment. She listened to my symptoms and explained ways I could benefit from their services. She spoke to me as if we were good friends, which I very much appreciated. Did I mention I did not have a wait time? When you do not feel good, that is something you take into consideration. Eli was my ER nurse who spent ample time explaining my procedure, making sure I fully understood, and provided every comfort measure he could possibly provide. Our community is blessed to have such a caring and knowledgeable facility. I was not just a patient; I was family. Thank you

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Magee General Hospital Sleep Center
What does Magee General Hospital Sleep Center do?
Magee General Hospital Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Magee, MS that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Magee General Hospital Sleep Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Magee General Hospital Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Magee General Hospital Sleep Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Magee General Hospital Sleep Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
