I would like to recognize Daija in the pharmacy for providing such great customer service. She greeted me with a warm smile, asked about my day, and took the time to read through the instructions for taking my prescription. She was very pleasant, professional, and genuinely caring. She is a wonderful young lady, and I truly appreciated her kindness. I also had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Lawanda in the lower level of Kaiser. She is always pleasant, professional, and welcoming. I’m always happy to see her beautiful smile! Her positive attitude and friendly personality make every interaction a pleasant one. Thank you to both Daija and Ms. Lawanda for making my visits to Kaiser a little brighter. Your excellent customer service does not go unnotic

Dr. Reid Vegeler Excellent First Experience I had an excellent first visit with Dr. Reid Vegeler From the moment I met him, I felt that I was in very good hands. He was professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely attentive to my concerns. What impressed me most was the time he took to listen carefully, explain everything clearly, and answer all of my questions in a thoughtful and reassuring way. He made what can be an uncomfortable and sensitive medical visit feel much easier and more comfortable. I truly appreciated his professionalism, compassion, and excellent bedside manner. I left the appointment feeling reassured and confident about my care. I would highly recommend Dr. Vegeler to anyone looking for an excellent colorectal specialist.

7/8 This time I had an appointment at the sleep clinic and I want to tell you about a very kind receptionish. When I got out of the Uber the door hit another car and a very angry woman rolled down her window (there was no damage) At the same time a car behind the Uber started honking - and I had a panic reaction. I started to cry and couldn't stop; I knew what was happening and that eventually I would be ok. When I checked in, the receptionist, Ms Makeda Moye what I was going through and she couldn't have been any kinder. I told her I was going to call my sister and that I would be ok. She pointed out a corner of the waiting room where I could have some privacy. And then, while I was on the phone, she brought me a cup of water. I felt comforted and reassured, and very grateful to this kind

We had a wonderful experience with the pre-op endoscopy team. Nurse Tiffany’s warm and caring spirit immediately put us at ease and helped calm our anxieties. She took the time to make sure we felt comfortable and informed, which meant so much to us as parents. The entire team was incredibly thorough and attentive throughout the process. Dr. Ghouse’s periodic check-ins before and after the procedure truly stood out and made us feel like our son’s care was a top priority. Because of the compassion and professionalism shown by everyone, we felt confident that our son was in excellent hands. Thank you all for providing such thoughtful and reassuring care! We are truly grateful.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center

What does Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center do?

Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Washington, DC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Medical Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
