DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. You will not even get an appointment. Find another sleep center. Ridiculously bad customer service and logistics. I tried to set an appointment FOR 6 MONTHS STRAIGHT. I followed up 20+ times combined across email and phone. 6 months later, they said they weren't taking new patients. This kind of delay is not a minor inconvenience. It is exhausting, stressful, and deeply discouraging. If the center was unable or unwilling to help, that should have been made clear immediately instead of leaving me in limbo for half a year. I reached out to this lab because of its specialized reputation and because I had limited alternatives. Instead, I encountered prolonged delays, poor communication, and no meaningful resolution. Based on my experience, I would NOT trust this c

I can’t say enough good things about Lauryn and the rest of the team here! From day one, they have been nothing but kind, attentive, and incredibly reliable. Every time I need something—whether it’s supplies, an appointment, or just a simple question answered—they always make sure I’m taken care of without any hassle or delay. It’s rare to find a medical team that is both efficient and compassionate, but they get it right every time. I’m beyond grateful for their care and support, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

This is an excellent facility to get great care for sleep help. I encourage all military to work with this office as I am military. My wife and I have been going to this location since 2018. I was explained in detail answers to all my questions. The staff is amazing and helps you with all your needs. They helped me with my equipment needs for all my deployments. I had everything I needed while I was gone out of country. My wife and I can say this place is the best from over four years of experience.

I was visiting from out of town and had a part of my cpap mask broke. I called High Plains Center, and they GAVE me a sample part that was perfect for what I needed. They could have charged me for a new part, but they had a sample and bailed me out of a jam. The people there CARE about people!! What a wonderful experience I had there. If I lived in this area, I would definitely use them, and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

HPSDC has been nothing short of amazing! They discovered that I had severe sleep apnea and saved my life. Also, the staff is absolutely wonderful people and very caring. When I moved out of state, they sent my supply needs in a timely manner and kept me well informed about any changes in my medical coverage. I strongly recommend them because the are the best! Thank you.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about High Plains Sleep Disorders Center

What does High Plains Sleep Disorders Center do?

High Plains Sleep Disorders Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Clovis, NM that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at High Plains Sleep Disorders Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact High Plains Sleep Disorders Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at High Plains Sleep Disorders Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at High Plains Sleep Disorders Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
