The worse hospital ever. Been sitting here for almost 5 hours while they have all of the test results but their is only on doctor in the er. We will get a hourly bill for the room but they and the doctor is sitting but they told me they have all of the results. If my husband wasn't so sick we would of went to Carlsbad. I can't wait to move the health care in New Mexico sucks.

My daughter injured her wrist and insurance was refusing an MRI. The gentleman at registration was so helpful showing me how to use MedSave to get a lower price for the MRI without using insurance. When we came back for her MRI the technician let me come back with her and explained every step of the process, even showing me how to access the imaging online after the procedure was done. Thankful we have this available to us in town so we didn't have to find an imaging center, wait for an appointment, and drive hours away.

I have been impacted for over a week and now my top abdomen looks like I’m pregnant with twins and is hard and I’m in pain and it hurts to walk. I’ve had pressure on my diaphragm and trouble breathing. Now I can’t stop urinating more than I even take in. I came to the ER because the implications are diar and serious. I have been sitting on the waiting room for over two hours and have not even been triaged. They have taken people back who have just gotten here and don’t seem urgent but how do they know I’m not dieing if they won’t even triage me. I feel like I should just go home and die there because they don’t seem to care if I drop dead in their waiting room.

The staff and nurses at the Artesia Sleep Center are genuinely kind and caring. Unfortunately, the process for getting a CPAP order signed has been incredibly frustrating and slow. We are now on week three of waiting for a doctor to sign the prescription so my hard-working husband can finally get restful sleep instead of repeatedly gasping and choking for air at night. When we call for updates, the front desk consistently says they're 'waiting on the doctor to sign it,' but they often can't provide more details or locate the order status. I understand doctors are busy, but for patients struggling to breathe, this delay feels unacceptable. Two weeks or more seems to be common here. If you're considering the Artesia Sleep Center, be prepared for potentially long waits on critical orders

Literally the worst hospital in existence. I may as well just die at home. 0 concern. 0 compassion. 0 sense of urgency. The young male doctor rushes evaluation, probably because he’s incompetent and wants to get back to flirting with the female nurses. The nurses just sit around, chit chatting, flirting with the male doctors. All they do is hook you up to an IV and tell you to see a doctor on Monday. Like what? YOU are a doctor. What a scam.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Artesia General Hospital

What does Artesia General Hospital do?

Artesia General Hospital is a sleep medicine clinic in Artesia, NM that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Artesia General Hospital?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Artesia General Hospital directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Artesia General Hospital?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Artesia General Hospital?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
