Dr Lown is as good as one can get in diagnosing various sleep disorders . I am a physician and chose him to do my sleep apnea screening and I refer all my patients for any sleep related issues such as obstructive and or central sleep apnea, narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, excessive day time sleepiness among many other sleep related issues.

Great practice! I had so many questions prior to receiving CPAP. All my questions answered and explained thoroughly. I was able to have the consult, sleep study and received equipment ( with set up) all in the same office. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends!

EDIT 3 year later: A lot has improved after my initial experience with Delta Sleep Center and I wanted to update my review to reflect a more sustained, positive experience. Dr. Lown is excellent at ensuring that his patient has everything that they need and spends a lot of time explaining the science behind everything and why it works. I've been on a few different medications and he and the staff have continued to support me through my narcolepsy journey. I will say that there are some still some lags in timing to get things rolling, but often a quick phone call and leaving a message will get the ball in the motion. It is MUCH better than what I had experienced in the past. OLD REVIEW: This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with a doctors office, and I would ca

The care received at Delta Sleep Center has been extraordinary. I decided to use Delta due to the very positive reviews. I have not been disappointed. Not only have they provided top shelf professional advice and care but their entire staff has been courteous, professional and beyond nice. I would strongly recommend them to all.

Went there with a lot of anxiety. Bobby spent time with me and made me feel relaxed. He could be a motivational speaker. He must do this numerous times a day but makes you feel like your his only client. I left with a positive attitude, and numbers I can call with any questions. Would recommend anyone with a sleep apnea issue to go through him. Thanks Bobby

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Delta Sleep Center of Long Island

What does Delta Sleep Center of Long Island do?

Delta Sleep Center of Long Island is a sleep medicine clinic in Commack, NY that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Delta Sleep Center of Long Island?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Delta Sleep Center of Long Island directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Delta Sleep Center of Long Island?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Delta Sleep Center of Long Island?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
