Dr. Ojile hardly spent any time with me and was incredibly dismissive. I was told I should be "happy" with sleeping 4 hours a night. It's possible he does better with patients with sleep apnea, but I felt like once I tested negative for that (and spent way more than originally quoted on the sleep study), we tried two sleep medications with lackluster results and then he threw up his hands and didn't have anything else for me. Dr. Muehlbach spent more time with me and had a better bedside manner, but most of our time was often spent with him reading my sleep logs (rather than him reviewing before my appointment) and he also did not really have any solutions for me. I will say the sleep study technicians were all great to deal with (though I slept terribly—there's nothing comfortable about

Complete waste of my time and a delay in treatment. Office staff very unprofessional and a poorly ran healthcare facility. Can never speak to a real person. All calls go to voicemail and you never get a return call. My insurance even tried calling them with no response. I was seen in clinic a month ago and have had zero communication from his office regarding any testing. I liked Dr. Ojile but will not be going back due to his office staff.

I've been seeing Dr. Harris since 2020. I can't recommend him enough. Great bedside manner. Good sense of humor. He asked me good questions and explained things to me. The admin staff is always incredibly nice! I went in to see a respiratory therapist because of an issue with my CPAP and he was super helpful.

Really hard to get anyone to answer. I’ve been trying to get a new CPAP ordered. Came in for a visit on 5/8/26. So they would sign off on my order. I originally started this process in February but had to wait till April when my new insurance kicked in. I had a sleep study done in 2016 so all I needed to do was see the Dr and they could sign off on it, and get things ordered. Was told someone would reach out after my visit, no one has. Called to speak with a manager and just kept being transferred to someone’s line to leave a voicemail. Still no idea with what’s going. Really disappointed this is taking so long even though everyone made it seem like it wouldn’t take long to get this moving.

They were very professional and made me feel very comfortable during my stay! Sabina did an excellent job working with me; she was very flexible and went above and beyond on working around my crazy schedule. She provided excellent communication with me throughout the entire process as well. Matt did my hookup during my stay and he did an excellent job! He made me feel very comfortable and was very enjoyable to talk with. The room, bed, and bathroom blew me away! It was all set up like a high end hotel. It was all very clean and nice, and the bed was very comfortable!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Clayton Sleep institute
What does Clayton Sleep institute do?
Clayton Sleep institute is a sleep medicine clinic in St. Louis, MO that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Clayton Sleep institute?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Clayton Sleep institute directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Clayton Sleep institute?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Clayton Sleep institute?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
