That lady that sits behind the phone in the emergency room called Wendy degrades EMS personnel in front of and to myself and other patients. Judging by the other reviews of this hospital about the person who sits behind the phone sounds like the same person. I don’t recommend this hospital people are better of going to lowville or Watertown!!!

I was at the ER for a migraine and went because my neurologist told me to. When my IV bag was almost empty my nurse was talking about me and that if I know I have chronic migraines i shouldn’t be coming to the ER for them

I’m very disappointed with Carthage Area Hospital Family Health Center Clinic. I was dismissed as a patient after missing two appointments in the past year — both due to access issues outside of my control. Rather than working with me or recognizing the real barriers patients face (like transportation and scheduling challenges), they chose to terminate me from care. Communication was also extremely poor. The manager would not return phone calls and it took over a week to receive any response. It was nearly impossible to get through to anyone at the front desk, which only added to the access issues. For a federally funded health center that is meant to improve access for underserved patients, dismissing someone for circumstances beyond their control feels unacceptable and inconsistent wit

If I could give a 10-star rating, I absolutely would. I want to sincerely thank every single person who took care of me. A very special thank you to Beth, who performed my CT scan and truly went above and beyond during my treatment. I am incredibly grateful for the doctors, nurses, and technicians who treated me with such compassion and kindness. At the previous hospital, no testing was done and I was discharged while I was still extremely weak and continuing to pass out. It wasn’t until my husband explained that I had lost consciousness that I was finally taken seriously. I never even saw a doctor there, despite spending seven hours with very little care. This hospital made an immediate difference and helped me feel so much better. I can’t believe I didn’t know about this place sooner.

All 3 of my kiddos have had surgery here. Every time I’ve been there they’ve been kind and attentive. There was a very upset patients mother in the room next to me (she had no real reason to be as rude as she was) the doctor or nurse dealing with her was calm and kind the entire interaction I was very impressed. I was even more impressed at the level of professionalism from the staff after who didn’t talk about the issue on the floor, they weren’t rude back to her either. They handled it so well! They took great care of my babies!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Carthage Area Hospital Sleep Center

What does Carthage Area Hospital Sleep Center do?

Carthage Area Hospital Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Carthage, NY that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Carthage Area Hospital Sleep Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Carthage Area Hospital Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Carthage Area Hospital Sleep Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Carthage Area Hospital Sleep Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
