This review is from September 11 2023: I had my first appointment on September 11 2023, first impressions the place is located in a nice neighbor, lobby is quiet and spacious, once I signed in took 5 minutes for the nurse to call me and check my vitals (weight, oxygen, and what none other sleep specialist has ever done before... she took measures of my neck). then she asked me couple of questions and then told me to sit and wait in the room I took the pictures. after maybe 10 minutes the doctor called me to his office. Once inside he introduced himself, gave me a business card and told me to have a seat. Asked me how could he help me. I told him about the problems I had with NY Metro Sleep and then with New York Sleep Disorder Center. He asked me who had referred me and I told him I foun

To have them answer the phone let alone give a call back in a timely fashion, they don’t send in scrips in a timely way - generally a very very bad customer service experience overall. I have no choice at this point to stay with them but how NYCHHS never surveys about the quality of who they outsource to and don’t outsource to a better quality provide I don’t understand - every step of the way - one bad experience after another. It’s gone very far downhill since new ownership took over and started pinching Pennie’s I guess. Even my doctor confirmed - you call them and it’s a 50/50 crap shoot if the phone rings through to a machine it says “application error” - what an inept organization !!!!

On Sunday, August 17, a few of us had scheduled appointments at 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm. I arrived at 7:30, and others arrived around 8:00. When we got there, notes were posted on the doors stating that they would be opened at 8:00 pm and a technician would assist us. However, 8:00 came, then 8:30, and the doors remained locked. No one was answering the phones despite our repeated calls and messages. Myself and an elderly woman waited until 10:00 pm with no response to our calls or texts. I finally left at 10:00 pm and called the next morning, only to be given excuses and misleading information about why the technician never showed. Instead of taking responsibility, management shifted the blame onto the technician, showing little regard for our time or safety. Overall, this was an extremely

TL;DR: kind, nurturing, attentive staff, comfy bed, takes ghi, bedrooms are a little too basic, could be a bit cleaner, easy and quick to book a sleep study with them. Recommendations to take to sleep study: your own pillow, slippers to go to the bathroom, phone charger, long sleeves if you get cold easily. I needed a sleep study because I'm grinding through all mouthguards and waking up with a ton of pain. My doctor warned me it would take months to get the study done anywhere because there are multiple appointments, with hard to get appointments. I called Better Sleep on Thursday to get the process started. They got me in to meet with the sleep doctor there within 15 minutes of my call, at about 3pm! Also they took my insurance, GHI, so all I've paid so far is my $30 copay and supposed

It’s all about keeping the pay roll coming in. False results . The staff basically tells you and implies that you have Sleep Apnea before you even do the Sleep Study. Not even asleep during sleep study and getting bad results. The staff appears extremely jubilant to inform you that you have Sleep Apnea. ( there is a control room from which they supposedly monitor you with computers - manipulation of your results ) Also if you the patient fails to show up for an appointment you ( your insurance ) are charged $150, if the Doctor fails to show up ( which has happened twice) there are no penalties or fees for the Doctor. The Doctor is late for zoom meetings on average one to two hours. This place is a fraud . I do not recommend this sleep clinic at all. I also notice that I have never seen a wh

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Better Sleep NY
What does Better Sleep NY do?
Better Sleep NY is a sleep medicine clinic in Bronx, NY that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Better Sleep NY?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Better Sleep NY directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Better Sleep NY?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Better Sleep NY?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
