Horrible. My doctor referred me they made my appointment 8 months out at the 6 month point of waiting they just cancelled my appointment said they would call back to reschedule never did I actually called them and left 2 different messages never a call back. Completely incompetent, this is health care? Right.... I give up I'm going to call my doctor at AMC and see if he will refer me to the sleep clinic in Harrisburg.

I drove 110 miles to this place because I couldn’t get my medical records over the phone when I get there. They told me I had to get my medical records from Walmart that place is a joke if you have another choice and you live in the area you better off going to Charlottesville

They don't work with my work schedule and refuse to send in a refill because I can't get in to see them any sooner due to work. I'm out of my medication and they are uncooperative. Every doctor I've ever had has always sent in just enough to get me through until my appointment because they're booked out past my expiration/amount and it's not the patient's fault the doctor is filled up. When I called to ask about just getting me through to my appointment next month all I got was "should of made the appointment sooner", I made that appointment as soon as I could. Zero empathy or compassion at this place.

My experience there is the reason I won’t go and get check ups, I had a rough patch in my life When I simply couldn’t do to do appointments so I had to end up rescheduling, front desk clerk kinda came off snobbish and I felt like she was talking about me in a since when I finally did come in there. I’m currently looking for another sleep clinic didn’t feel like a worthy patient. Which has made my anxiety worse.

Like any sleep clinic it is a long wait, but it Is worth it. Dr. Hanger helped me after being diagnosed with Narcolepsy which was slowing my everyday life down. She will answer your questions and walk you through processes on how to adjust. They even check in on you. Recently I had trouble getting my medication at a pharmacy and I had Nurse Carol call my insurance and the pharmacy to get everything settled. It was fast, efficient and I definitely have never felt better.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Augusta Health Sleep Clinic

What does Augusta Health Sleep Clinic do?

Augusta Health Sleep Clinic is a sleep medicine clinic in Fishersville, VA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Augusta Health Sleep Clinic?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Augusta Health Sleep Clinic directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Augusta Health Sleep Clinic?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Augusta Health Sleep Clinic?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
