This practice is so poorly run and total waste of time. They receive steady business simply because they are the only available care on island. Long wait times, rude staff, dirty rooms. The only plus side was the nice nurse who took vitals. I waited over an hour in the room for the doctor, got up to leave and he was suddenly available to come in. He think made an offhand comment about I was free to leave to do whatever was so important. I very clearly communicated with the front desk exactly what I needed before the appointment and got there and they could not test for the specific thing I needed. I was offered no solution or alternative. There are also cameras in the exam room.

We were there for a long time but the doctor was great. He answered all my concerns and questions. I was able to get some of the testing done same day. He seems really knowledgeable. The only complaint is my prescriptions didn't get sent in before I had to go on the ferry back to tortolla and it's impossible to get anyone on the phone. So I'm going to have to make a very expensive trip back just to get my medication.

As per normal, one helpful staff member and the rest of them RUDE! I’m confused on why these young ladies are serving people in a healthcare industry with no empathy or sympathy what so ever! My daughter had an appointment there for 3:15 and sat in a hot room at 77 degrees until 5:00 pm for a rude receptionist to scream out “ YOU COULD RESCHEDULE YO KNOW” what kind of service is this! If your doctor was giving injections they should have make the necessary adjustments to his schedule as need be! I’m guessing because this is one of the limited/few ENT specialist, they feel as though Customer Service don’t matter!

I arrived for my vaccine along with my husband today. After receiving my vaccine, I was told by Dr Shapiro to wait fifteen minutes and leave, I asked did I need to notify anyone before leaving, he replied. Well that was incorrect. Later, after asking about next appointment date, I found out I needed to receive a Vaccine Record card. This was not a big issue, the real issue was the young lady responsible for giving out the cards. Thirty minutes after shot, I still had not received my card. When I went inquire about the card, she ignored me, than when I knocked on the glass divider, she became enraged. She had a very nasty attitude. She is the wrong person for a front desk person. Not customer service focused. Everyone else seems very professional.

I had a follow up appointment at 11:45 AM today for my ear. I have had an ear infection and trouble hearing. When I arrived, I called the office as instructed. The woman at the front desk told me to stay in my car and that I would receive a call when I can come up. I received the call at 12:20. The doctor didn’t see me until 1:00, at which point he video conferenced into the room to discuss options. He told me I needed to get an audio exam that day. I waited until 2:00 for that exam. Afterwards, I was told to go wait in the waiting room. Then I was told to go back into one of the exam rooms to be seen. I waited until 3:00 before getting up and leaving. I went to the front desk and told them that I had been waiting since 11:45 and it was now 3:00. It was obvious that the doctor

Virgin Islands Ear, Nose & Throat is a sleep medicine clinic in St. Thomas, VI that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Virgin Islands Ear, Nose & Throat?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Virgin Islands Ear, Nose & Throat directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Virgin Islands Ear, Nose & Throat?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Virgin Islands Ear, Nose & Throat?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
