Tech was very nice and knowledgeable. He didn't mind my questions and answered them thoroughly. He was very responsive & helpful throughout the night when I needed to get up. At home I sleep on a Tempur Pedic mattress so my only complaint is that the bed was not comfortable.

It is DIFFICULT to give just one rating. The staff is excellent. The cleanliness is wonderful. The room is beautiful. The whole facility is well laid out. However, it is a 12'x14' room with a DEDICATED AC UNIT overhead, directly in the center. It's blowing COLD AIR hitting your face no matter how you turn. I was not asked what temperature I sleep typically and the room (I think set at 70°) was SO COLD FOR ME, that I awoke one time asking for an additional blanket. The attendant provided a blanket and FOLDED IT to help accommodate me. AIR CONDITIONING also changes the humidity in the small room. I awoke in the middle of the night with DRY SINUSES, DRY MOUTH, and DRY THROAT so extreme that I couldn't talk. The attendant brought water, BUT EVEN WATER COULDN'T FIX the dryness that was created

Very excellent care was given to my son and our comfort was very important. The staff were amazing with my son, especially Amanda in the way she made sure to keep him occupied to get everything put on him and in the way she explained everything that was going on and making sure that I understood as well. The room was very clean and extra pillows/blankets were offered for more comfort.

They treated my son and family great! They explained everything in detail that thoroughly reduced my anxiety and stress as a parent. They even gave my son an award that created a positive medical memory for the both of us. They answered all of my questions including my son’s that ensured safe, and effective care. They also delivered great care that transformed a stressful visit into a positive experience.

The staff was very friendly and extra punctual. We basically walked right in and spoke to April who gave us all of the instructions. I felt like she covered everything thoroughly. Picked up our equipment and left. Very stress free visit.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about UTHealth East Texas Henderson- Sleep Disorders Center

What does UTHealth East Texas Henderson- Sleep Disorders Center do?

UTHealth East Texas Henderson- Sleep Disorders Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Henderson, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at UTHealth East Texas Henderson- Sleep Disorders Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact UTHealth East Texas Henderson- Sleep Disorders Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at UTHealth East Texas Henderson- Sleep Disorders Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at UTHealth East Texas Henderson- Sleep Disorders Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
