I visited UPMC Wellsboro today for a Weldexa Imaging scan. I was so impressed by the cleanliness, professionalism in every area of the hospital. It was immaculate. All of the staff were helpful & friendly. I received excellent care & I would choose this hospital, though far from my residence, if I had to be admitted as an In-Patient. It is small, mangable & personal. An excellent choice!

Worst ED department with nurses and doctors that always miss something important, and criticism at its best and then trying to say it's all in your head. I'd recommend requesting Sayre or Danville.

As a plea to any parent reading this PLEASE do not choose to have your child here. Especially as a first time parent. From the start of our stay the nurse on duty was dismissive and very pushy. Neither me or my wife wanted to use an epidural during birth and the nurse Cindie was very pushy and disrespectful. Basically saying she has to get one and saying we were stupid for not wanting it. After birth (ended up a C section) my wife and I had to beg to get her incision looked at and dressing changed. When they finally did they were very rough and rushed. When we were concerned about the amount of blood my wife had we got a quick glance and “it’s fine” there was literally a huge puddle between her legs! I had to demand they helped her clean up and got met with an again disrespectful and dismi

I was at this ER yesterday and I had a nurse named Nick. He was, by far, the BEST nurse I’ve ever had! He truly cared for me as his patient. Not only did he do his job duties, he conversed with my grandma and I. He made us feel comfortable and at ease. Nick was very professional and had the greatest bedside manner. Also, he checked on me often, explained what was happening and what was going to happen and made sure I understood. EXCELLENT at putting in my IV and taking it out, leaving no bruising or lumps! He should be employee of the month or given a raise or something special! KUDOS TO NICK! Thank you! As well, Dr. Barnard was excellent! He listened to me, truly listened! He was able to figure out what was wrong with me and didn’t brush me off. He checked on me numerous times and explain

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about UPMC Wellsboro

What does UPMC Wellsboro do?

UPMC Wellsboro is a sleep medicine clinic in Wellsboro, PA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at UPMC Wellsboro?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact UPMC Wellsboro directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at UPMC Wellsboro?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at UPMC Wellsboro?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
