Do not attempt to have a sleep study here if you have a child with special needs! They made matters more stressful. The lady kept telling my 7 year old autistic child that if she does not cooperate then she will have to leave multiple times when she has severe anxiety and did not want to do the sleep study in the first place. Then she berated me because she was moving around and a lead came off as she was falling asleep. She told me that I needed to make sure she kept the pulse ox on and that none of the leads came off (when it was dark in the room) or we would have to leave. Then she told me that I had to put my phone away and turn the light off as she was falling asleep, that she was not allowed to see my phone. I decided to leave because I didn't want someone berating me all night. She

I've had problems with sleeping for a long time. I was recommended to come here to try to find out what is wrong. Waited a month from my visit to go in for my sleep study, just to have my appointment cancelled by them on the day of my appointment and had to reschedule. I could not go in the date they gave me, so I had to go on a different day. A month and a half later, I did 1 sleep study and waited a couple weeks just to be told there is nothing wrong and they wouldn't bother recommend me for a CPAP machine. Now thankfully for me every penny was covered by my insurance, because $5000 for the study and $500 just to reschedule my appointment after you people cancelled my original date would have made me crash out if I had to pay any of this. If the solution was a CPAP machine, I could

Dr. Shetty and staff offer the best customer service. She’s very patient and considerate of offering the best medical and emotional advice. She’s been following my care for almost 10 years. Olga in the front office is always so friendly and helpful.

I had a great visit! Nothing but good things to say. First off, their parking lot is off Melrose Rd. Google will guide you to the wrong side of the building. The staff was very professional and knowledgeable. Facility was super clean. Dr Shetty could not have been nicer and more helpful. She looked at my past tests, asked a lot of questions, made recommendations on a new product, and adjusted all my settings. Their review score is not based on the team I met with today. That MUST be old data.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about The Sleep Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System

What does The Sleep Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System do?

The Sleep Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System is a sleep medicine clinic in Fayetteville, NC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at The Sleep Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact The Sleep Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at The Sleep Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at The Sleep Center of Cape Fear Valley Health System?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
