I can only tell you the experience we had in the Emergency Room. It was one of the worst visits of my life and I am a retired veteran of 25 years. Horrible conditions in a VERY COLD environment. Bring a winter coat if you have to use this facility! Once you sign in they move you inside near the nurse's desk into a very small and narrow hallway that connects 2 larger corridors if you will. Nothing there but maybe 5 uncomfortable chairs. It's in this very spot that eventually your care begins. Lol Yes......right in that small hallway! People are actually being worked on right there next to you! They swabbed one lady ,to our left, for COVID. They lady to our right had somekind of scalp infection and they actually worked on her right there! I mean are you crazy! No privacy what so ever. T

I’d give zero stars if it was an option. My mother came to the Westchester hospital because the hospital in our town didn’t have the capability to help her in what she needed. She had advanced multiple myeloma. Though I’m sure my mom liked some of the nurses there, there was far more worse ones. At night was always the worse. My mom or her roommate would press the call button and no one ever showed. For hours she’d press the call button and by the time the nurse came she had already soiled herself and sat in it for hours. Everyday the nurses would come in saying she had this testing to do that day and she needed to fast for it and then leave her there fasting all day just to tell her by the end of the day that she’d have to wait to try again tomorrow to do it. The doctors come into

Our experience with the emergency room registration staff was absolutely awful. At 3 am Tuesday July 7, 2026 our 28 year old disabled non verbal son arrived at the ER by ambulance for an ENT/Oral Surgeon evaluation, with us right behind him in our car. The individual working the front desk refused to follow WMC’s own protocols, and would not allow us to be with our son for over two hours. He is non verbal and cannot communicate or advocate for himself. Under NYS law, DOH DAL 23-11, disabled patients have the right to Continuous Presence, which means they must be allowed at least one support person with them at all times, including in the ER. We are not only his parents, we are his legal guardians. This makes us Designated Support Persons (DSPs). According to WMC’s own policy, “The ho

I recently had a five-day stay for gallbladder surgery, and I can honestly say I don’t think I could have had a better experience. Every doctor, nurse, and aide I interacted with was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. My nurse, Mary, for the first few days of my stay helped me feel safe and comfortable and eased my anxiety about the procedures and surgery I would be having. I can’t recommend this facility enough. Thanks to all who were involved in my care.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about The Sleep Center at Westchester Medical Center

What does The Sleep Center at Westchester Medical Center do?

The Sleep Center at Westchester Medical Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Valhalla, NY that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at The Sleep Center at Westchester Medical Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact The Sleep Center at Westchester Medical Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at The Sleep Center at Westchester Medical Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at The Sleep Center at Westchester Medical Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
