Best decision of my life (beyond marrying my wife), going to Dr Murray and getting the oral device. I am sleeping better, no more CPAP hoses or masks making lines on my bald head. My wife doesn’t kick me anymore at night for snoring, and I can track my nightly sleep patterns. The team is amazing and takes great care of their patients, still follows up to make sure things are working well. Highly recommend this team to anyone who wants to be rid of CPAP machines.

I have severe sleep apnea and tried using a CPAP machine for about a year. Unfortunately, it was completely uncomfortable. There were many nights I would took it off during my sleep without even realizing it, and over time, it actually made me feel anxious before going to bed. Because my sleep apnea is so severe, I wasn’t sure if the sleep apnea device would work for me—but I decided to give it a shot. Dr. Murray, Michelle, and Josie are incredibly professional, patient, and kind at every visit. They create a warm, caring, and relaxed environment that makes you feel comfortable the minute you enter the office. I went from getting terrible nights of sleep and even falling asleep during work to having a surplus of energy throughout the day. The sleep apnea trays have truly made a differenc

I had a very disappointing experience with Sleep Studies of CT. The testing itself was covered by my insurance and everything appeared to be in network. The entire process up until the visit to the office was smooth and easy. However, once it came time to discuss treatment, the appointment was a sales presentation than a medical consultation. I drove an hour expecting to discuss my results and treatment options, but instead I was immediately being steered toward an expensive oral appliance. What was never made clear beforehand was that the dentist providing the mouth guard was out of network, despite the testing itself being in network. My insurance covers these devices through other providers, yet I wasn’t informed of the out of network status until after the consultation. At that point

The best medical office I have ever been in. Dr. Murray is patient, kind and explains all the ins and outs of sleep apnea and it’s therapies. Michelle is equality his mirror image! Josie is also a patient and kind person who made sure I am comfortable with the appliance, it’s fit. how to use it and what to expect in the days ahead. I left with confidence and very pleased I did not get the “mask” that my husband has.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about The Sleep Apnea Center of Connecticut
What does The Sleep Apnea Center of Connecticut do?
The Sleep Apnea Center of Connecticut is a sleep medicine clinic in Fairfield, CT that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at The Sleep Apnea Center of Connecticut?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact The Sleep Apnea Center of Connecticut directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at The Sleep Apnea Center of Connecticut?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at The Sleep Apnea Center of Connecticut?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
