After a recent visit to Dr Nair’s office below is a correspondent I sent his office with no response and the reason I decided to discontinue seeing him. Please be aware. Doctor Nair, I need to address the experience I had at your office yesterday. My original follow-up appointment after the breathing test was canceled by your office last week and rescheduled for yesterday at 4:00 p.m. I accommodated that change as a courtesy. Unfortunately, when I arrived on time, we sat in the lobby for 45 minutes before saying something to the front desk. We were then taken to an exam room, where we waited an additional 15 minutes, and you still did not appear. In total, we waited approximately one hour past our scheduled time without explanation or communication. What concerns me most is not that d

If you have difficult-to-manage asthma, Dr. Ranjit Nair is the physician to see. He is a quadruple board-certified physician who is highly skilled, knowledgeable, and effective in treating complex asthma cases. Dr. Nair is compassionate and does an excellent job educating patients about their condition. Jeremiah Simmons is excellent as well. He is a compassionate and dedicated nurse practitioner who truly advocates for his patients and provides quality care with empathy and professionalism. I can honestly say I am proud and grateful to be under their care as a patient at the Lung and Sleep Center.

I’ve been coming to see Jeremiah Simmons at the Richland Hills Center for over a year now, due to shortness of breath. His concern for my health, his expertise and experience, and the way he has managed my diagnosis and treatment have convinced me that I’m in the right place. The staff here are always friendly and very competent too, another plus!

I’ve been to see Dr Nair a few times. The first time I saw Dr. Nair I was in the hospital. He was not on my insurance plan so I couldn’t make an appointment with him until I changed my plan which I did and I haven’t been sorry at all. He’s very good very friendly very personable. He makes me feel right at home. He answers my questions. He lets me talk and just talk to him about my problems and he answers him completely. I his his staff is very good. I have no complaints. They’re very professional very nice very personable. I would recommend anybody to come to see Dr. Nair and the other positions in this building and as I said the staff, they’re always polite always ready to help. Just always ready to be there for you so yes I will. I will see Dr. Nair in the future.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about The Lung & Sleep Center of North Texas

What does The Lung & Sleep Center of North Texas do?

The Lung & Sleep Center of North Texas is a sleep medicine clinic in North Richland Hills, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at The Lung & Sleep Center of North Texas?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact The Lung & Sleep Center of North Texas directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at The Lung & Sleep Center of North Texas?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at The Lung & Sleep Center of North Texas?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
