Subject: Official Complaint: Unprofessional Behavior, Negligence, and Potential Discrimination by Employee [Anita]To the Practice Manager / Patient Relations Director,I am writing to formally log a serious complaint regarding the unacceptable service I received at your facility this morning, September 7, 2026. I arrived at 8:45 AM and was the third person to register. Because I was fasting for over 14 hours for my lab work, I anticipated a quick turnaround. Unfortunately, due to the severe negligence of one of your staff members, my experience was deeply distressing. When I was called for registration, I handed my lab orders to an employee named Anita (described as an older woman Bosnian descent). She looked at her computer and placed my paperwork to the side. I then returned to the waitin

Slocum Dickson lab is an excellent, well oiled machine. There were about 20 people waiting but I only wanted about 20 mins and I was in and out! Shy was my lab tech and made my blood drawing journey a pleasant, informative experience. He chatted with me the entire time and even taught me something about my veins! A very personable young man! I would recommend this lab to anybody! The renovation is beautiful too, with plenty of waiting room space!

It's always a bad experience when checking in. The last 2 times they forgot to put my order in, I dud go during the weekend so figured they got busy, things happen, but twice! Today, I go at 3 pm on a work day, it wasn't very busy. I wait in line to check in for 45 minutes, I'm the second one in line when I get there. The woman working is so unprofessional, she complains about how much work she has, she is the only one that gets large orders, no one helps her, they screwed up her savings account and if they don't fix it, she is going to quit. Probably if she worked instead of stopping and complaining loudly constantly, it wouldn't take 45 minutes to get through the line. The line builds and goes out the door while she complains, she doesn't care. Probably they should literally fire

I made an on-line appt for 7:50 am on 5/29. Arrived at the lab and there was a line out the door. Inside there was supposed to be 2 lines, one for scheduled appointments and one for walk ins. There was only one line for both appointments and walking. When I asked they said there was no one to man the window for scheduled appointments. So I had to wait my turn in the one line and did bmnot get in for lab work until around 8:15 am. I had another appointment at 8:45 am and ended up being late for that appointment. So much for scheduling online.

I was annoyed I had to do bloodwork. There’s always an issue, lines too long, too many people etc etc…Again, annoyed until my name was called. I had the pleasure to meet Shy! What an awesome guy!! Great personality, takes his time, and he did an amazing job! He told me he was nicknamed GT. I would say that sums it up. The guy with the Gentle Touch. Hope to see you again, Shy! Thank you so much!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Slocum Dickson Medical Group
What does Slocum Dickson Medical Group do?
Slocum Dickson Medical Group is a sleep medicine clinic in New Hartford, NY that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Slocum Dickson Medical Group?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Slocum Dickson Medical Group directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Slocum Dickson Medical Group?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Slocum Dickson Medical Group?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
