I am sharing an email I just sent to this company. I hope no one has to use them. They are horrible about responding in a timely manner. Completely wasted my time. They called me earlier today and before she told me I told her she did not have to worry about it. The only reason anyone even reached out to me was because I have asked multiple times, not because it was the right thing to do. Someone reaching out to me 2 days AFTER our procedure was scheduled is completely unacceptable. I am severely disappointed in the correspondence from your organization. I know I am not the first person to ask what any financial responsibility this procedure would cost. I know that this procedure is not verified the day before the procedure. While I realize we are in the middle of a pandemic, I truly hop

Sleepmed sent me an invoice in December 2019 for cpap equipment that I never received in November 2018. I called and their offices as directed on their portal to turn off autopay. I left 8 messages but they billed my credit card anyway. Very unscrupulous company that takes advantage of the customer and takes money any way they can get it. In my opinion they stole my money.

Very happy with clinical staff, very disappointed with the follow-up. The PA who saw my husband for the initial appointment was thorough and knowledgeable. We are very pleased with the service by the PA and by the sleep medicine technician who did the 2 studies. She was excellent. We never saw Dr. Wells. After my husband's two sleep studies, the first Dec 5, 2016 showing "severe" sleep apnea, the second Dec 17, 2016 for titration of CPAP, as of January 10, 2017, we have not heard from the staff and have been unable to reach them by phone. My husband has underlying heart disease, hypertension, and multiple other medical problems that can be significantly worsened with untreated sleep apnea. Phone calls to the office are simply a waste of time. We left numerous messages on each extension off

Hi. I have been using this DME for about 12 years. I have not used this location yet. I managed to get a call through and arrange a new mask fitting . They called me back about an appointment for one. It was virtually impossible to get a call in to find out about the appointment. I have used the same mask for 12 years with no one asking about if I liked it. I think it is because the price has decreased on this mask and they are getting more profit. I was able to get an appointment with a respiratory therapist in Newnan, the DME company ,Lincare. Miss Eddie, the therapist, is knowledgeable and caring. They answer your calls. I am so glad I made the switch!!!!!!!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about SleepMed
What does SleepMed do?
SleepMed is a sleep medicine clinic in Macon, GA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at SleepMed?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact SleepMed directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at SleepMed?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at SleepMed?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
