Great experience with emergency room!! Quick check in, nurses were knowledgeable and Dr Lefebvre was very thorough explaining what could be going on. Quickly determined a kidney stone and provided info on how to deal with it. We were traveling out of town and randomly chose this hospital since it was closest to our campground. So glad we did!!

3 stars (up from 2 due to continued positive experiences with many staff here over the course of days) as the ICU staff was great, Drs. Poole and Schuster were also excellent, and a specific callout to Lynn at registration for being great during a difficult time. However the ER nursing staff that transfered my FIL to the ICU were unprofessional to an extent I can't comprehend. I understand the stress of constantly working in this type of environment and can appreciate needing to disassociate to keep your own sanity but to act as if a patient and family wouldn't expect some semblance of empathy or professionalism when doing the job is a unacceptable. Making race car noises, casually chuckling about almost losing the IV tower coming out of the elevator and nearly pulling tubes out of his bod

Today 2/15/26 my mom, Cynthia Cindy Chinnici would’ve been 65 years old had it not been for Southwest Vermont Medical Center’s NEGLECT which I can CONFIDENTLY say I KNOW my mother would be here today had that hospital not started her on a new medication the second day of her being admitted in the hospital under their care! The worst part about it is, they started her on a new medication The second day she was there, stopped her on it two days later, but yet neglected to care for her, which caused a hole in her stomach, and my mom died of septic! The worst part is it happened early in the morning and the doctor that was on call notified her doctor that she was under care for with that she had passed away from septic shock and he wanted that doctor to fabricate her death certificate and say

Because our car broke the day before, I was taken to SVMC Bennington ER, in an ambulance, with, what turned out to be a mini stroke. ALL the nurses were very kind, and supportive, even Adam, who was growing weary toward the end of his long shift; he never broke! All the doctors, patient advocates, PT staff etc. were great. All the Lab people, and the MRI staff were great. The woman who did my bubble test also! Basically everyone was wonderful , very much including the 2 women who helped me get a ride home! God Bless you both! My only issue with the hospital is that they won't let you peacefully sleep. I was completely exhausted from several stressful days before my episode and I was mentally falling apart. I told them I had not slept more than 7 hours in 3 stressful days, and if I didn't g

For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Disorder Center of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center

What does Sleep Disorder Center of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center do?

Sleep Disorder Center of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Bennington, VT that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Disorder Center of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Disorder Center of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Disorder Center of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Disorder Center of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
