I recently brought a family member to the ER because it was the closest to our location at the time, and our visit here was phenomenal! From the time we checked in to the time we were discharged, every staff member we met was extremely kind and empathetic. However, my aunt asked me to mention nurse Rachel specifically. Nurse Rachel took care of my aunt, and she was the best nurse I personally have ever met. Not only did she explain in simple details what every single lab test and imaging was for to both my aunt and I, but she frequently reassessed my aunt's pain and comfort levels. When it came time to be discharged, she had also highlighted important sections in the packet and discussed every single piece of information that was in the packet with my aunt. My family and I are so grateful

I had 2 spinal surgeries last week and was there for 4 days. The nurses, doctors, dietary, housekeeping, PT and all other staff were the absolute best. Everyone seemed to enjoy their job and I received incredible care. The hospital was clean and comfortable. Sometimes it felt like I was the only patient there. Everyone made me feel like a real person, not a chart. I could tell patient safety and comfort was top priority. Special thank you to Anna, Renee, Norma and Justin.

This is hospital was by far the best hospital I have ever been to. I was immediately greeted by a smiling happy face and then checked in by that same person. The lobby was comfortable and beautifully decorated and the staff was very attentive and accommodating to my needs. The front desk lady even asked me if I’d like a wheel chair and escort to the MRI because I have some medical needs. Of course I said “yes” and within 3 minutes someone was there to pick me up and take me to the MRI. When getting my MRI the staff was wonderful in assisting me with transfers and anything else I needed. I had a fabulous visit at this hospital and if I ever need further medical care, I will be sure to make sure I obtain medical care from this hospital! A hospital where building kind, compassionate, and over

The emergency room doctors were phenomenal, until I got on the floor upon admission, the nurses with held my heart pill and put me into trouble with my heart. One of the female house doctors mixed me up with wrong patient amd tried to convince of a test that I didn't have done. One of the nurses taking care of me got upset with me upon me asking her to go slow when injecting a flush in my IV, she was gonna get me another nurse. Nobody ever came in my room and changed my water out unless I asked each day. Nobody offered to help me shower for days. The one I can't get over was with holding my heart med and further putting my heart rate down, my heart doctor did not know they weren't giving me my heart pill when my heart doctors said to give it to me. I never got it for 5 days. La

I recently had hip replacement surgery at Parham Doctors' Hospital and was impressed by the facility and care I received. The nursing staff were very attentive, the private room was nice and the food options were good. The process from pre-registration and informative class to surgery and release went smoothly. I also received a follow-up call after a week at home to check on how I was doing. I definitely recommend Parham Doctors' Hospital for joint replacement based on my experience.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Parham Doctors' Hospital

What does Parham Doctors' Hospital do?

Parham Doctors' Hospital is a sleep medicine clinic in Richmond, VA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Parham Doctors' Hospital?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Parham Doctors' Hospital directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Parham Doctors' Hospital?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Parham Doctors' Hospital?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
