asked for a neurology apt. and was sent here, just posting to people are aware, the nurse came in and said they would need a sleep study, i told her i already had two and two nap studies, and was looking to have an appointment with a neurologist, this was not the place i was expecting to go - then despite having insurance i got a bill for 200+, my insurance would not cover - it was for a facility fee - unfamiliar with this i reached out explaining that i never even seen the doctor, since i left after the nurse said i would need another sleep study - It was explained that it was a facility fee - just for walking in the door - i never heard of this so i reached out to my insurance company and they stated they do not cover those "fees" since it is not for a service - please check this out bef

Service was fine, and I had to have it done to get a CPAP, which has helped me a bunch. I'm just throwing a warning up for others that the pricing is outrageous, and I have decent insurance. Did the at home sleep study and they charged the $2079 for the electroencephalogram and $476 for facility charge. They give you a throw away device that hooks to finger and upper chest. I was told this facility charge is due to it being connected to a hospital. I thought they had accidentally charged me for the in-lab onsite one, but no, they said it was accurate. I asked and they told me the in-lab onsite sleep study would cost $8,000 - 10,000. That's crazy for one night. I'm sure there are cheaper options locally or online for sleep studies. My insurance did knock the price down some, but s

Like others have said the billing for a self administered sleep test is insane. However, when I had issues Marla and Kate were both very very kind and helpful.

All staff members are very friendly and willing to help when needed. The facility it self is always clean and sitting area is comfortable while waiting to be seen.

OSF Sleep billed me for electroencephalogram- while the services were NOT rendered at all. They billed $ 2,079 for an electrode that was attached to my finger and chest only- electroencephalogram involves the BRAIN recording - simple medical terminology… I guess any provider can - and should?- bill for a heart transplant while the patient is only getting a flu vaccine???? Doesn’t it sound like fraud?

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about OSF Sleep

What does OSF Sleep do?

OSF Sleep is a sleep medicine clinic in Peoria, IL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at OSF Sleep?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact OSF Sleep directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at OSF Sleep?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at OSF Sleep?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
