Today I went for an Eye Doctors appointment and as I was registering I was told that they had been trying to get ahold of me. They said they were trying to cancel my appointment and reschedule it for another day. I was upset because I live 60 miles away from the hospital and I told her I haven’t received any messages or phone calls. “This was all said in a stern voice”.Come to find out it was another person that was setting in the waiting room whom I guess they thought I was him. I thought it was funny she never asked me my name just assumed I was the person that she thought I was. I received no apologies or anything from the lady that was telling me all of this which I find upsetting because I didn’t make a mistake. I then asked to have a log signed to show I showed up for the appointment

Edit July 2026…. My nephew had a bicycle accident, got hit by a car on State Street. Although there was a half a dozen people in the emergency room waiting area, half of which had nonemergency issues, they got my nephew right in . He had a head injury. They gave him all the x-rays and scans and took good care of him. Softening old hard feelings. I just happened to be in the area visiting. I always avoid this place when I’m visiting. The people I had issues with no longer work here … Things can change quite a bit in 20 years. Not that we should forget what’s possible when people don’t do the right thing. April 2005 EMT from Crown ambulance shows up, and cuts off all my clothes. Then an attendant helped an aggressive Presque Isle police officer assault me on the way to the hospital. It was

Not great. Pay at the time of visit the full cost estimate for those who are uninsured. They will bill you repeatedly after asking for more and more money. And if you call they just change the bill cost and aren't very helpful or pleasant.

I can't believe how much this hospital has gone down hill. 30 years iv gone there for medical care. So many people have told me to go to another hospital for better care . But no I put my trust in northern light Ar goul . And again they can't handle the simplest tasks. My goodness you can't even run a clinic never mind a hospital . You can't keep Drs . I go see my Dr you never know if it's the same Dr or different one. The best Dr I had was Sue Porter. Maybe you need to ask her how it's done. Because the quality of care is not there. Your Drs and staff are out right mean at times. Talk to your the patients . not down to them. Hey Drs don't blame your patients blame your self and staff and the hospital. And I trusted this hospital for so many years of my life. So sad . I hope for the hosp

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Northern Light AR Gould Hospital Sleep Diagnostics

What does Northern Light AR Gould Hospital Sleep Diagnostics do?

Northern Light AR Gould Hospital Sleep Diagnostics is a sleep medicine clinic in Presque Isle, ME that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Northern Light AR Gould Hospital Sleep Diagnostics?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Northern Light AR Gould Hospital Sleep Diagnostics directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Northern Light AR Gould Hospital Sleep Diagnostics?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Northern Light AR Gould Hospital Sleep Diagnostics?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
