I'm writing this on behalf of my partner to avoid any retaliation for a bad review. My partner needed a new sleep study, and wanted to do it at home. First, making the appointment was confusing. They made us install a sketchy app on a phone while making the appointment to prove it would work for the test. Then they left off important information (how/when the test needed to be returned - they want it back by 11am the next day). For pickup, they said to call from the parking lot. Well, the phone tree is obtuse and it took 5 minutes and 2 calls to figure out how to get someone on the phone... only to be told to come inside. Then it turned out that, unlike the full at-home study kit they list on their website, they just gave us a cheap bluetooth pulse oximeter. I looked up the model number

Room was cozy and the bed was not too bad. Staff members were very professional and did a good job explaining everything. The room was a bit chilly but I wore a sweatshirt and I was fine.

I had a sleep study at the Newton location on 2/14/26 to 2/15/26& had a great experience. My tech was Olivia & she was amazing! I was nervous going in & she reassured me through every step of the way. Any staff at this location that I bumped into or had even just a slight interaction with were great & friendly. Definitely made my experience nice & smooth!

Took 2 months to receive a call from scheduling in order to book appointment for my 5 yr old. Spent a month going back and forth between the referring doctor, scheduling and insurance. Finally set an appointment. Showed up at the clinic with 5 yr old for the appointment. Despite having spoken to someone the day before for preregistration and having all the confirmation paperwork, they told me the appointment was cancelled six weeks prior without them notifying me. Every step was made unnecessarily difficult and complicated and my 5 yr old never got his sleep study. Avoid this company.

Currently assisting a friend in rescheduling an appointment. They scheduled her for an appointment without talking to her and confirming if that worked for her . Horrible customer service. Been on the phone for over 30 min wait times . Used online chat and no response . How are you supposed to cancel an appointment?!? My friend does not drive and needs me to drive her . Horrible experience. How can you depend on them to handle your test results ?!? I also see similar concerns and complaints like mine , and I do not see any improvement with their phone service that they acknowledge about having issues with . Disgraceful.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Neurocare Center for Sleep

What does Neurocare Center for Sleep do?

Neurocare Center for Sleep is a sleep medicine clinic in Newton, MA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Neurocare Center for Sleep?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Neurocare Center for Sleep directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Neurocare Center for Sleep?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Neurocare Center for Sleep?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
