I’ve been a patient of Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, and Lesa Lewendowski’s for over 15 years. I’m frankly surprised by some of the reviews I’ve read. Over the course of that time, through different iterations of staff and office locations, I have never had a bad experience. In fact it has always been the opposite. Lesa treats you as if you are her only patient. She takes the time to understand any issues and do whatever she can to help. One time she thought of something that could help the day after a visit, and called me directly (not her assistant) to discuss. She’s even researched different prescriptions and pharmacy options to find the best deal. Service well beyond what I would expect! Chip, the CPAP tech, is also awesome and is a staple of the office. Never get calls back. Ordered replacement CPAP parts and they responded that I needed an office visit so wouldn't fill the order. I also responded to their laser light promotion, they never responded. They promoted the procedure as a possible replacement to CPAP now wondering if it is snake oil. How do they stay in business?

The next time someone from this practice responds to an email will be the first. Every time I reach out it's like pulling teeth. But they sure do find me with their promotional emails effortlessly. And the receptionist appears to be anti-vaccine, which, in a pulmonary practice is simply mind-blowing. Will be looking to go elsewhere.

What should have been a simple CPAP check turned into nearly $250 in unexpected charges. I’m leaving this review to share an honest account of my recent experience at Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, which was unfortunately very disappointing. Over the summer, I contacted the office because my CPAP machine didn’t seem to be working correctly. Their technician, Chip, told me the machine was still under warranty until October and advised me to bring it in so he could evaluate it. I later called back to schedule an appointment specifically to see him. When I arrived, I was told Chip wasn’t there that day and was working at another office. This was surprising given that I had scheduled the appointment expressly to have him look at the machine. Instead of a quick equipment check, the visit beca

I don’t recommend this provider!!! Even though they’re a BCBS in-network provider and BCBS said I’m only responsible for “allowable charges”, Lake Norman Pulmonary sent me to a COLLECTION AGENCY because I didn’t pay some of their full submitted charges! This is called balance billing and they do this because their billing coordinator is incompetent at submitting claims. So out of desperation, they overcharge, hoping the patient will just pay their incorrect bill instead of paying what the EOB’s say they’re responsible for. I’ve tried to resolve this but, again, the billing coordinator wouldn’t participate in a 3 way call with BCBS to get it resolved. It’s hard to believe this nightmare can happen with apparently no oversight from anywhere.

Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Frequently asked questions about Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, PA
What does Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, PA do?
Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, PA is a sleep medicine clinic in Mooresville, NC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, PA?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, PA directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, PA?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep, PA?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
