I would rate them with 0 stars if possible. HME bussiness plan is broken, I do not see it bening fixed anytime soon. There have been many occasions the HME has failed to deliver on their promise. Recently we ordered a Hoyer Lyft when he comes home from UNM hospital. The UNM paitence advocate, set up the deliverey. The item was not delivered for 3 days, this caused my father to stay in the hospital for 3 days till tbe lyft was delivered. He no longer needed the lyft and so I called HME to pick up the equipment. He has been 3 wks with over a dozen calls to check on the delivery. HME customer service ensured me the equipment will be pick up that day. We never call a call from the driver or HME customer service about any delays or issues involving the lyft. When I called to speak with a mana

This company needs to get their priorities straight!!! Stop acting immature when speaking to YOUR clients!!! Also, you all need to work as a team and be professional. People are needing their oxygen and it’s like playing a game. Come on! If there is a scheduled oxygen delivery you need to keep that date, if it will be delayed YOU need to communicate with the clients, it’s not like it’s free. Had to go to the hospital due to the lack of communication of my delay of oxygen because I had no more left(2 days late). Mind you I was on my last one. STOP PLAYING WITH PEOPLES LIFE!! Don’t do things to people if you wouldn’t want it done to you especially if you lack OXYGEN! You also need to stop lying!

I normally don’t write long reviews, but my experience with HME has been beyond frustrating. After a serious car accident in September 2025 and an 85-day hospital stay, I needed incontinence supplies during recovery. My doctor sent a referral in mid-December 2025. As of today which is almost the end of February, I still have not received the correct supplies I needed. I spent weeks calling HME almost daily around the middle of January. After finally speaking to someone, I was repeatedly told my doctor’s paperwork was unreadable or missing, yet my doctor confirmed multiple times that HME never contacted their office. They resent the referral again and provided proof the referrals were resent. HME also repeatedly claimed they called me and left voicemails, which never happened. When I fina

I've been trying for 2 days to get them to deliver oxygen to my mom. They called the wrong phone number and will not deliver if no one answers. I've corrected the phone number twice with them and they still keep calling the wrong number. In the meantime, my mom doesn't have any oxygen. I tried calling the after-hours number but the voicemail box is full and I couldn't leave a message. Clearly customer service is not a priority for them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HME!!!

This company is trash. They are so unprofessional nobody calls you with updates. They delay patient care. They have been telling me everyday that his equipment will be out for delivery since 5/18/2026. My father has been discharged from the hospital since 5/18/2026 today date is 5/21/2026 and no equipment has not been delivered. So unprofessional and ridiculous. My father is disabled and has been having to sleep in a hotel because his bed has not been delivered yet by you guys. How disgusting is this company to not care about patients. Will be making complaints to state as well.

Services at HME Specialists
HME Specialists lists the following services:
- Sleep Apnea Treatment
- CPAP Therapy
- Sleep Disorder Treatment
- Sleep Disorders Therapy
Common services at sleep clinics include diagnostic sleep studies, CPAP titration (finding the right air pressure), follow-up therapy adjustments, and treatment planning for insomnia and other sleep disorders. If a service you need is not listed here, call the clinic and ask — the list above comes from the clinic's own published information and may not be complete.
What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about HME Specialists
What does HME Specialists do?
HME Specialists is a sleep medicine clinic in Albuquerque, NM that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at HME Specialists?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact HME Specialists directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at HME Specialists?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at HME Specialists?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
