Personally couldn't recommend a better hospital to visit. The ED is full of compassionate workers. They're always super busy and do the best they can to see every patient in a timely manner. I've been multiple times with my mother for chest pain and everyone from the front desk receptionist, to the nurse and all the way up to the Doctor himself, took the time to hear my mothers concerns. Dr. Edgmon is my primary care and I speak very highly of him, both of his Nurse Practitioners and their staff. They care so much about each of their patients. Having a busy practice as such and they're always making sure I'm well taken care of. Maggie Hodge is also a provider of mine. She is wonderful. I can always express my concerns to her and never feel awkward. I know that she will never steer me in th

Had a very nice experience with the emergency room led by the good Dr Shaffer. My son had belly pain and severe nausea. They diagnosed him with acute appendicitis and took great care of him. It’s tough as a parent of a 6-year old that is suffering - how many of us would gladly suffer instead of our children if able. East Ohio Regional Hospital took amazing care of him and he is now back to school with nothing more than an itty bitty tiny scar. Every time I look at his belly scar I am reminded of what a great hospital this is, serving our community, one patient at a time. Thank you to Dr Shaffer, the ER nurses, and the entire hospital team.

Their staff are caring and compassionate. I was emitted for appendicitis, but with testing they found out I actually had Influenza B. They took good care of me. My only qualm is that they are kind of slow and a bit neglectful. I had to wait two extra hours for my medication after asking multiple times, but my patience is far from thin. So far this has been the best hospital experience I've had in the area.

The ER staff, Dr. O'Karmas office, the surgical department and finance department have all been fantastic. The care I've received has been outstanding. They have all addressed my medical issue so thoroughly and quickly. I couldn't be more happy.

My close family member had to be rushed the ER in an ambulance Thursday night for shaking and blacking out. We followed the ambulance and got there at the same time they did. When we went to the check in/waiting area, we told the ladies at the desk that we were there to see her. They told us we would need to wait until she's checked in, they would LET US KNOW, and then ALL of us could go back and see her. They never let us know that she was ready, even though we sat in chairs right by the check in window. My family member had to call us to ask if anyone was coming back to see her after we had already been there almost an hour. Then they tell us only one of us can go back at a time. That's fine, it's just not what they told us before. When it was my turn to see her, I couldn't find her room

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about East Ohio Regional Hospital Sleep Center
What does East Ohio Regional Hospital Sleep Center do?
East Ohio Regional Hospital Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Martins Ferry, OH that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at East Ohio Regional Hospital Sleep Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact East Ohio Regional Hospital Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at East Ohio Regional Hospital Sleep Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at East Ohio Regional Hospital Sleep Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
