I think this building would be more useful if it were demolished and made into a community center because as a hospital it is the most atrocious and unprofessional one I have ever been in. In the last 72 hours, just in my close circle, they have misdiagnosed a uti, sent one patient home with someone else’s discharge papers, and sent another patient with an actively rupturing appendix to a hospital 2 hours away that had no beds because they did not bother to call to inform them the patient would be coming. if 0 stars was an option I would give it and if you actually take your health seriously I would never consider this hospital, especially in an emergency.

If I could get 0 stars I would. Worst care ever! Physician and nurse both very rude, ignored families concerns, visibly rolled eyes, then told family member maybe she should’ve treated the patient. AFTER missing something that the family knows is there “they don’t see it on the scan. 😡😳

If I could give a zero I would. I came in after crying for hours because I haven’t been able to eat in over a week solids or soft. I picked a tonsil stone out and I could see multiple others and people said they could see them also. The doctor told me since they weren’t massive that it wasn’t a serious issue after I sat here and cried because I am literally starving to death and just wanted help being able to eat. I don’t know how treatment go for this type of thing but I feel like not being able to eat “psychological” or not is still a bigger issue I fear. They told me they could “kind of” see white back in my throat but they don’t like to do anything because they don’t seem to be bothering me breathing but they do me eating? All i’ve heard from this place is bad stories but I thought the

I had a tiny flutter moth go in my ear and right down my ear canal. Went to ER, they registered me quickly and ER nurse came and got me within a couple of minutes. The nurse was fantastic, evaluated me and took me back to a room. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because it was 45 minutes before they came back. Once they came back they worked on me almost continuously. Was never left for more than a couple of minutes. Dr.Ackerman came and worked her magic and was able to remove the moth. Dr.Ackerman, the head nurse, & the rest of the staff we're fantastic!! If I ever half to back, I sure hope I get the same staff. Thank you to all of them

Dr. Misha Phillips-Lee is an excellent primary care physician. I would highly recommend her. Dr. Lucas Pavlovich is an outstanding orthopedic surgeon . He did a total hip replacement for me and everything went along as swimmingly. Would definitely recommend him and we’ll see him to have the other hip replaced in the near future. Can’t say enough good words about this man. The biggest downfall of this hospital is the fact that they still employed Dr. Kristine Edwards on staff. She nearly killed me with a routine gallbladder surgery, and I was one of the lucky ones. I know several people that did not make it as a result of her botched surgeries. She left this hospital for a short time, but they re-hired her. After my botched surgery, I ended up back in the emergency room less than 24 hours l

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Davis Medical Center

What does Davis Medical Center do?

Davis Medical Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Elkins, WV that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Davis Medical Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Davis Medical Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Davis Medical Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Davis Medical Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
