Went here because I’ve had bad sleep inertia since at least elementary school. The doctor didn’t listen to my concerns, basically ignored what I was saying and prescribed me a sleeping pill. Then proceeded to tell me the pill would probably cause me to sleep walk (and said I’d need another person with me for the first few weeks of taking it to make sure I don’t drive or leave the house while still sleeping!!) I already semi sleep walk due to the severe sleep inertia, why would I want to take a pill that makes me sleep walk and put myself in dangerous situations? Needless to say I never picked up that pointless prescription. Not a good experience here.

I’ve seen another review smart enough to realize these excessive positive reviews can’t be true. My best friend has been struggling for two weeks dealing with the incompetence and lack of care from anyone in this facility. All I have to say is make sure your paperwork is complete and accurate and that you receive everything you need the first visit because once you leave their doors they will not think of you ever again. Even calls from pharmacists are ignored. Shame on everyone working here. Do better.

Always so welcoming and helpful! Dr Aydinoz took plenty of time to sit and speak with me to help me understand. Very nice Dr's office.

It is obvious that this clinic is manipulating its online reputation by flooding it with fabricated positive reviews. In reality, the clinic is widely known for being IMPOSSIBLE to communicate with. I completed a sleep study and received a prescription from them while living in the area sometime back. Since relocating, both my new healthcare providers and I have made repeated efforts to request my medical records, all of which have been ignored. I have called the office countless times without a single response. They do not answer the phones. They do not answer voicemails. They do not answer faxes. Even staff members in the billing department (at an external office) have admitted to me that poor communication is a chronic and well-known problem at this clinic, and that they have received n

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From start to finish, our experience at Comprehensive Sleep Medicine was thoughtful, thorough, and respectful. I received timely phone and text communication prior to the appointment, including a helpful pre-visit check-in link. When we arrived, the wait was minimal, and the staff moved with efficiency and kindness. The nurse who completed vitals was gentle and patient. The nurse practitioner, who led the consultation, truly embodied compassionate, culturally responsive care. As a Black mother and clinician advocating for my son after weeks of medical delays, I felt seen, heard, and respected. She answered all our questions and helped us schedule both sleep studies without hesitation or pushback. Even the front desk staff engaged with warmth and clarity. This visit was a remi

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Comprehensive Sleep & Breathing

What does Comprehensive Sleep & Breathing do?

Comprehensive Sleep & Breathing is a sleep medicine clinic in Tuscaloosa, AL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Comprehensive Sleep & Breathing?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Comprehensive Sleep & Breathing directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Comprehensive Sleep & Breathing?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Comprehensive Sleep & Breathing?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
