I want to start with a positive. The young man working there was very nice.. Unfortunately, they expected me to go to sleep at 7:45 PM. The room was like something from a motel six. At 8:30 PM a second patient came in and I could hear everything being set in their room next-door. I could not sleep on my stomach, which was my normal sleep routine. I stayed for six hours and got no sleep due to the noise and thin walls. Definitely would not recommend this place.

It’s no surprise to me that this clinic has such horrible reviews. Communication had been horrible from the start with this company. Took over 2 months for them to schedule my sleep test and they never return your phone calls. My sleep test was faulty and did not work as described once I took it home, so I shut the test off after an hour. THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR THE TEST. Their reasoning? Because the test left their facility - all coming from the owner. They also told me the owner returned my call because “it said she called me” in their notes. I have no missed calls or voicemails from them. Do yourself a favor and request another sleep study clinic from your doctor. I’ve now saved 3 people from using this clinic. All they care about is making money, regardless of their une

I had an excellent experience at Coastal Sleep Lab! From the moment I arrived, the staff was friendly, professional, and made me feel completely at ease. The facility was exceptionally clean and quiet, which made it easy to relax and get through the overnight study. My sleep technician was kind and knowledgeable, walking me through the entire process and checking in just enough to make sure everything was running smoothly without disturbing my rest. The follow-up was just as impressive—my results were explained in a clear, helpful way, and I felt supported every step of the way. Special thanks to the office staff, who were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the scheduling and insurance process. They were always polite, organized, and quick to respond to any questions I had.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Coastal Sleep Lab
What does Coastal Sleep Lab do?
Coastal Sleep Lab is a sleep medicine clinic in Myrtle Beach, SC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Coastal Sleep Lab?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Coastal Sleep Lab directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Coastal Sleep Lab?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Coastal Sleep Lab?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
