Having the same communication issues as other people who have left negative feedback. I have been calling about my health issue several times with no response. However, billing constantly calls me for my copay. Even when I call billing back to clear the copay there's no answer and the voicemail is full. I tried the trick of pushing other numbers on their phone tree options and still got voicemail. The only person that answered (impolitely) was the telehealth scheduling option. When I asked to speak to an office manager she transferred me and what do ya know... voicemail. There are other sleep doctors in the Bay Area. Believe me it's worth the effort to avoid this place. This is all sad considering that my experience with them 10 years ago was great. Things have definitely changed for

The appointment and NP was great. The staffing/scheduling is unacceptable. I did a sleep study months ago and couldn’t get a follow up until a week ago. I was told during the appointment I would be getting a phone call right after to update insurance information and schedule for a Cpap. I initially started speaking to you guys in April and now we are coming up to the end of the year. All I want is to be treated for my condition and get what’s needed. I’m still waiting on a call.

New Review - March 2021: I originally left a negative review about a month ago. However, my experience changed because of 1 person - Antonio Ruiz. He's been super helpful and friendly, and when he told me that no data was recorded, he was able to get the sleep study unit shipped to me and with a prepaid return label. The previous 3 ladies were just giving me false promises and never returned the call. Thanks again Antonio! --- February 2021 Worst Customer Service! I've been trying call them dozens of times and left messages, but no reply. I finally got the appointment and the unit. They said they would walk me through the instruction, but none was given. I returned the unit and was promised to get the results a week later. Now, after a follow up after 2 months and spoke to at least 3 diff

My doctor suggested I talk to a sleep specialist and referred me to this center. I was contacted immediately and filled out the form - with a NP setting up an appointment to discuss the results in September of 2021. She seemed really worried and wanted to get a sleep study done as soon as possible. I was charged $500 (after insurance!) for the virtual visit and then nothing. In December of 2021 I received a message via a patient portal from a separate NP which I couldn't access - there was no way to even get to the portal because they'd never set one up for me. I called no less than 3 times and left messages for the new NP and got no results. No study was ever conducted. So here we are in May of 2022 and nothing has been done. So I guess you could say they just took my money and ran

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about California Center for Sleep Disorders
What does California Center for Sleep Disorders do?
California Center for Sleep Disorders is a sleep medicine clinic in San Leandro, CA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at California Center for Sleep Disorders?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact California Center for Sleep Disorders directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at California Center for Sleep Disorders?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at California Center for Sleep Disorders?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
