I had recently visited on October 17th, 2025. I had a viral infection that was later determined after testing. I had seen many folks with many much more serious cases, so I asked to please wait in the waiting area until final decision where I should go. I believed to have had 3 X-rays, Strep culture, COVID 19 test and other rapid testing. I will believe a few other times I visited that things were going to be a smooth advance to the actual unit. I had also back in 2019 being under a Section 12 care was treated without prejudice and utmost respect. The loyalty and trust from all the employees were great and that I wouldn't seem to have a rough interaction. I wish to be there on certain circumstances differently, but I have not had Ever bad interactions at BSF! Even during other hospitals be

Took my wife to ER yesterday. All around impressive experience with all the staff. Triage staff were thorough and patient. Nurses equally excellent. Doctors were calm, reassuring and knowledgeable with great bedside manner. Continual checking in on us while in the room. Not your typical ER experience. Thank you to all. With appreciation, gratitude and respect to all.

Had a good experience in their ER. Worked quickly, phlebotomist got 5 vials out of my puny veins which is nothing short of a miracle, staff was caring and friendly. Especially love the X-Ray tech with his "zamboni." Called a few days later to get my records transferred to my primary care physician in Cheshire Dartmouth. If I had an emergency health issue, I'd come back here again without hesitation. Highly recommended.

Went in on Tuesday with my 2 1/2 year-old. She was having trouble breathing and didn’t seem like herself. She tested positive for RSV and the pediatric doctor there (red headed lovely woman) was super helpful in making the decision to get her helicoptered over to CCMC in Hartford. The staff is very knowledgeable and I appreciated them making quick decisions and getting us a transport that was safe and effective. My only complaint would be that my daughter seemed way worse often than anyone else in the waiting room and we still had to wait about 45 minutes to be seen. I went up once and explained like she’s actually struggling to breathe and then it was only about 10 minutes later that they saw her so they did act once I voiced my concern. I would recommend advocating for yourself at the ur

Generally I like this hospital. The few times I have been to the ER have been alright. I was hit by a car while riding a bicycle a couple years ago and I feel like they could have handled my injuries a little better. It felt like I was rushed back on to my feet. Aside from that poor experience I will still return to this hospital whenever I need to. It's also unfortunate that the staff needs to keep going on strike. They really do care about the people who are injured or sick. They really do need more staff. But don't let this discourage you from going to this hospital. The staff absolutely will do there very best.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Baystate Franklin Medical Center

What does Baystate Franklin Medical Center do?

Baystate Franklin Medical Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Greenfield, MA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Baystate Franklin Medical Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Baystate Franklin Medical Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Baystate Franklin Medical Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Baystate Franklin Medical Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
