After waiting 48 long and excruciating hours, hoping, as in times past, it would ease on its own with a little symptom treatment, I had to break down and go to the ER. Diagnosis: abscess and infected salivary gland. I see other reviews on here and understand we all come into the ER, often at our very worst states, so it should be expected to see some deviation in reviews. Outcomes in the ER are so uncertain and often life changing in a negative way, they are fighting against a very real negating issue. When I went to the ER, I was not only suffering from pain as a result of the abscess and infected salivary gland, I was also mentally exhausted and depleted, without any faith in humanity, and feeling as alone as a human being can feel. No self-worth, no pride or dignity left from the strug

As I sit and type this I am in excruciating pain. I went to the ER yesterday and the day before. What a waste of my insurance money. I went in pain and left in pain. I’m not one to like to take narcotics but if I’m in the discomfort that I’m in now I’ll take something. I was prescribed arthritis medication a time prior to these recent visits. I told them what happened to me. Fell asleep leg hanging off bed. Now I have arthritis? Arthritis meds did nothing. Of course they didn’t. I don’t have arthritis. The past couple days this week I went, they prescribed me a muscle relaxer. It didn’t even touch the pain so I went back the next day. I couldn’t bear the pain. Another muscle relaxer was prescribed. Also did nothing for me. I should’ve never came here especially after how it was after I had

I honestly can’t rate this hospital highly enough! No matter what service I use. The Labs have the best staff around. Hematology are all amazing so caring and knowledgeable. We are blessed to have such a great surgical team / outpatient center in Wilkes. The Staff and physicians have all went out of their way to help with treatment and my comfort.

I think they're waiting for me to have a pulimonary embolism before they check my leg for a blood clot. Been waiting in ER waiting room for 3.5 hours so far still yet to be called back to a room. They'll let you die for sure.

I knew nothing of this Hospital when I was visiting in Wilkesboro area. I ended up having to go to the emergency room like at 8:30 at night. I can’t even tell you how amazing that ER was . The team that came in to take care of me, assess me right away, they knew exactly how to put an NG tube me without causing so much pain. They kept me comfortable. I got my meds and they got me right in for a CT scan. The CT scan showed that I had a #Bowel obstruction. The doctor came in we talked about what they needed to do to help me get better. Around 2 AM I went up to the second floor, and I was met with a wonderful staff, Leslie who normally works days, was working nights, she got me all settled and made sure I had my pain meds .The next morning, Dr. Mayer came in and he went over what needed to

For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Sleep Disorders Center @ Wilkes Medical Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Sleep Disorders Center @ Wilkes Medical Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Sleep Disorders Center @ Wilkes Medical Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
