American sleep medicine is very unprofessional and I would not recommend for anyone to attend this facility. The staff is clueless and the manager Renée is a liar. My five year old son was scheduled for a sleep study this past Saturday. Upon arriving I was told that he was not on the list for tonight. I ask why no one had contact me about the changes. The staff was like idk. I also noticed that another lady was having the same issue. I ask to speak to with a manager. The staff member called the manger Renee and handed me the phone. Renee stated that an approval was not received and that her staff had contact all 10 people. I stated that I do not have a missed call nor a voicemail message from this Facility. Then I ask how many patients can get this test done at one time. She stated a total

I was single in 2016, and, during a visit back to my parents' house, my family told me that they could hear me sleeping and that they suspected I had sleep apnea. They urged me to see a sleep specialist. In the spring of 2016, I made an appointment here. The doctor asked me a series of questions. I said no to each one. He told me, based on my answers, I don't have sleep apnea, but he said I could be tested for it by coming in for a sleep study, but the test would cost $1,000, and insurance wouldn't pay for it. I didn't have $1,000 to spare. Plus, the doctor was insistent I didn't have sleep apnea. I spent the next six years wondering why I felt so tired during the day and why I had to pee seven or eight times a night (and why my bedsheets were basically torn off my bed every time I woke

BEWARE! This office has terrible customer service and follow up. I have been a patient since February, 2023 and have had to follow up with them every time I have a new test or appointment. They take weeks to get back to you and do not provide status of your account. Both my husband and I had at home sleep studies, the machines were old and did not work. We had to contact them over and over to get a new test done. Once you do get a diagnosis, it takes another 4 weeks to get confirmation if your insurance will cover anything, and then they don't tell you what the outcome is. Once they do order any equipment for you, it takes another 6 weeks to 6 months to get the equipment that the doctor tells you you need ASAP. The whole experience was frustrating and then they just tell you to go

Things went smoothly from beginning to end. From the tune they received my orders, I was able to get my study scheduled quickly. My tech was friendly and knowledgeable- explaining everything as wires were attached. I wasn’t sure I could sleep with all those wires but was reassured he could get plenty of information, to just relax and sleep will come. The lab was clean and the bed was comfortable. All staff was friendly. I would recommend this place to others.

If I could give them negative five stars, I would. I saw the doctor in December of 2017. They scheduled my sleep study for two weeks later. Keep in mind, if you cancel on them without a 24 to 48 hour notice, you owe them $100. The night of my sleep study I arrived 30 minuets early. I was told there was a scheduling conflict and they had to cancel my sleep study. The technician on duty asked if anyone had called me, to which my response was, “if someone had I called me, I wouldn’t have come.” He apologized for their lack of communication. I then asked for my $100 for them not notifying me of their cancellation. He laughed. I was serious. He then told me someone would contact me to reschedule. I tried calling the next day and they told me someone would contact me. Four weeks pas

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about American Sleep Medicine
What does American Sleep Medicine do?
American Sleep Medicine is a sleep medicine clinic in Brentwood, TN that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at American Sleep Medicine?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact American Sleep Medicine directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at American Sleep Medicine?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at American Sleep Medicine?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
