Listen, getting this done is sooo worth it! This team is so great (shout out to “Friend Adam-Great Oracle of Sleep Studies🙂)! It’s clean, temperature perfect, and the beds are amazing. I had to do two separate nights, and I slept better than each full week that I have gone. You’re given all of the information verbally and in writing to help you understand what is happening, the possible outcomes, and next steps. Follow-up call is great, and Terri is so very pleasant to speak with about it all. I’m so glad I ended denial and fear and had it done. I don’t like stuff on my face, but it feels like I can get used to it. If you’ve been told to have it done, DO YOURSELF AND GO! You can even go on a Friday night. Thanks, AST‼️

Terrible experience. I ask them to do the study for dreams/night terrors and all they wanted me to do is come back for a second night stay. End goal was to sell me a CPAP. I have no problems with breathing and now my life insurance was affected because they wanted to find a breathing problem. Also the doctor never called me back after l left messages.

I was referred here 3 months ago and still haven’t been notified to come in for a sleep study. I finally went in for an appointment but haven’t heard back from them. I wish I had looked at reviews first and not gone here and wasted a copay.

On 8/15/2025 I visited the Alabama Sleep Therapy for a sleep evaluation. The place was amazing. The facility was very nice, clean and inviting. Mr. Blake was my tech. He was very professional and personable. And made me feel right at home. He answered every question I had thoroughly. As well as explaining every process that had to be done. I will definitely use this facility if I ever need another sleep evaluation. I highly recommend!!

I went for my first ever sleep study here at the Vestavia location, and it was phenomenal. The facility is very clean and comfortable, and I can’t say enough about how nice the staff are. Everyone I interacted with either over the phone or in person was so kind, helpful, and thorough. My tech was Jase B., and he was incredibly excellent and intentional throughout the entire study and always made sure I had everything I needed. If I ever need another study done, I will definitely come back.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Alabama Sleep Therapy

What does Alabama Sleep Therapy do?

Alabama Sleep Therapy is a sleep medicine clinic in Vestavia Hills, AL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Alabama Sleep Therapy?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Alabama Sleep Therapy directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Alabama Sleep Therapy?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Alabama Sleep Therapy?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
